I have a 2-year-old daughter, and seemingly every other day or so, I read about how some young girl is either kidnapped or sexually mistreated somewhere in the world. It honestly upsets me. There are so many truly terrible, heartless people in the world.

I never thought I'd be an overly protective father until recently. Now I honestly believe that having a daughter may drive me insane. Even just knowing how some legitimately good guys I know treat girls that they don't care about. I know that we're all adults and everyone is responsible for their own decisions and should know what they're getting into, but God damn us men are the worst.

compared to everyone else, he was okay.

good thing for us you traded that Duclair guy. he looks really good for Arizona.

- SuperHenderson13

Yea he's looking good. Scarier thing for you guys is that Buchnevich is an even better prospect with a higher ceiling.

To be fair, if Johnston's system was ran properly, aren't those types of offensive zone entries exactly the kind we're trying to avoid beyond the dump and chase? Isn't that the more Bylsmanian stretch pass?
- Victoro311

It does look like Bylsma stuff. It's a shortcut to actual puck support and teamwork. It's lazy, entitled stuff. I suspect players who think that they're too good to do basic hockey like it. It used to mean that a guy could break in the zone one on three and probably get stuffed. Sometimes, maybe one in fifteen, Sid could break through 2 D and score. Then we would all celebrate and talk about how special Crosby is And wonder why the team isn't doing better.

Contrast that with the few times short, quick passes outpaced forecheckers and lead to clean zone entry. The problem with that is that the team has to restrain their impulse to do whatever they want and actually be in an assigned position or it doesn't work.

So which overrated offensive defenseman are you going to trade him for? Matt Niskanen?

And that's what I'm seeing. I see the defense making the passes that Johnston wants them to and then the forwards making the entries that Bylsma wants them to do. There's still some stretch passing but the defense is getting he pick to the forwards relatively shallower in the neutral zone than they did in the Bylsma era but then I'm seeing Crosby and Malkin trying to bull ahead and go 1 v 3 through the entire neutral zone and past the blue line and get smothered. Crosby doesn't pass to Kessel until there are no other options and usually the pass is rushed and errant. Malkin just doesn't pass and tries to will his way in which has actually been working better than what Crosby has done. Perron goes as far as he can and then chucks a low percentage perimeter shot towards the net which is the most frustrating of all.

This is why the third line has been the best so far. None of Plotnikov, Bonino, or Bennett have that "yippee kaye, mother (frank)er!" attitude and actually enter like a squad. If the top 6 could do that, we'd be in business, cus honestly when those lines set up in the offensive zone they actually look damn good and dangerous, it's just that they almost never get themselves set up because they suck at entering.

He's looked infinitely better than Carlson in the 2 games this year.

That's quite unfortunate for your squad...

I'm sure the Pens will reluctantly part with Scuderi. He had a good reputation as a "defensive" defenseman.

When you follow this team for a long time you get a feeling about things.

I get the feeling we will struggle for a while yet. A team that has not played together for any period of time, including zero games in preseason will have some difficulties with anticipation, timing and passing. I also think Clendening and DP deserve a shot sooner than later. That's all I got.

Oh, and I used to go to the Spectrum with my Pens jersey and no one laid a hand on me. Although the bathrooms were a little scary and I did take a substantial amount of verbal abuse. But after the games we went to the bars and had fun. Philly has a bad reputation but it's unjustified IMO. Great food too.

Hell yeah! Johnston FINALLY isn't bashing his head against a brick wall expecting a different result with Scuds in the lineup. Don't disappoint us Clendening.

Knock on wood, but I like what I'm seeing here. Great shift by Dumo keeping it in the zone several times.
