I'll take Despres over Lovejoy anyday - jimbro83
Same, but that trade is nowhere close to how big of a trade the Yandle one was. Maybe if we added a first round pick as well as Kasperi Kapanen for Lovejoy it would be close. |

but Lovejoy and Yandle aren't even remotely close in skill level, so this example doesn't make sense

Perhaps but judging by how the Penguins have been run, as of late, you are hardly in the position to mock any other team. |

Pittsburgh dealt a legitimate top four defender, still a few years away form his prime, for a borderline sixth defenseman straight up.
Yandle, who is one of the ten best offensive defensemen in the league and in his prime, got dealt for potential quality.
Even with Duclair's performance, last night, he is by no means in the clear in becoming a big time offensive player in the NHL. Still a long way to go before that is determined. |

Keith Yandle played really well the first 3 games of this season, this is almost getting to "step away from hockeybuzz" kind of moments |

Exactly, which is why I don't know why you brought it up. |

because Despres has a really bright future, as does Duclair
As does Yandle, as does not Lovejoy |

1. Not going into the any other team's threads and mocking them i.e., you.
2. Rangers have been doing significantly better than the Penguins, as of late, and this is whilst having the alleged best player in the NHL in his physical prime.
Need more examples on why your response was hypocritical, at best? |

Team is on a free fall, since 2013 when Boston thumped them, but Pens fans still walk around like their team is the business.

The amount of years that you have been rooting for the team doesn't absolve you from the fact you came off like a typical negative Rangers fan with your prior comment. - MidnightMarauder
True, I guess I'm just overly skeptical because I've only seen 1 cup won by the Rangers, and that took a Herculean effort by one the greatest players in NHL history, and Mike Ricters defending moment as a Ranger. |

Despres was borderline 6th defenseman/AHL top pairing defenseman for us. Lovejoy has actually been playing good in the top 4 for us. He only looked bad last year because he was thrown into 25 minutes a night on the top pair when we only had defenseman for a stretch.
Yandle is an okay offensive defenseman, looked much better in ARI. His defensive game is lacking. Basically an upgraded Del Zotto.
Thing is Duclair has been producing everywhere he's been. He was the NYR top prospect. Also that first rounder that was traded could have helped out too. |

Buchnevich, higher ceiling than Duclair. Kid is carrying a poor team on his back and is only 20 years old. - MidnightMarauder
All I'm saying is it would be nice to have BOTH Duclair and Buchnevich on the roster. If they both come close to their ceiling, that gives us a top 6 that can rival Chicagos between them 2, Nash, Kreider, and Zucc too. |

I'm not mocking, just saying I would rather have Duclair and a first over Yandle. You guys are the ones getting defensive over it. |

you are the EPITOME of the typical Ranger fan - jimbro83
Nice word, all knowing one!! |
|

Under what grounds would you assume Duclair jump over Miller and Hayes, on the depth chart? - MidnightMarauder
Pure skill and talent. Not to mention It's no secret AV would prefer for Hayes to be the 3C and essentially gift wrapped that winger spot next to Stepan to Miller and Miller dropped the ball with it. |

Yandle is close to skill level to Letang.
Do you think Duclair and a 1st would be fair value for Letang? |

Understand your frustration, as a long time Rangers fan, but at day's end if you don't enjoy supporting them why continue to root?
I have only been a fan, for a little less than half the time than you have, but I genuinely look forward to each and every season even knowing there is a good chance they will come up empty.
Not a single team, in the NHL, wins the cup and not need herculean efforts from their best players to bring it home. The Hawks, prior to 2010, were without a championship for almost 50 years and since then they have won three titles.
Team is on the right track, and have been for almost five years now. I want to see another title before I die, hopefully a few more on top of that, but the day I sour or stop looking forward, to rooting for the Rangers even knowing they won't win it every year, is the day I stop watching them.
Why be negative when sports are supposed to be a fun distraction from actual life? |

The defense needed a puck transporter. McDonagh, as good as his overall game is, is not an elite offensive defensemen. |

Lindberg looks just fine in that third line role. Fact is, the Rangers are pretty deep at forward and Duclair would not have jumped form junior to playing top six minutes this season; especially coming off a pretty rotten end to his season last year. |
