Yep. At the end of the day Mason is the main man in net.....but its great to have a backup like Neuvy. He's pretty damn solid himself. All the CBJ fans are blaming their defense for Bobrovskys struggles. While that is a part of it....what has been Masons excuse? Good goalies stop the puck no matter what.

I love Bob but he hasnt looked good

Bill if PEB was moved up in the lineup do you think he would produce offensively?
- rinaldo

I think he'd do decently. Actually has good hands.

Bob is a good goalie.... I think he is overrated though. I watch him play and I just dont see the domination the national media talks about. He got hot in a 48 game season and past years CBJ has been pretty solid defensively, other than that..... I think we have the better goalie in Philly.

Well done, Flyers!

Neuvirth was a wall, the 4th line looked great (except for that VDV pass) and overall everyone played solid hockey. Need to stop taking so many penalties though.

That was some serious cherry-picking by Hossa. And a great save by Neuvirth.

Is booing Kane every time he touches the puck a new thing? Related to his extra-curricular activities over the summer?

4 games in..time to kill the coots 2c yet?
- jmdodgeser4

Look, I've been leading the choir that he may not be the long-term answer at 2C. But really, 4 games is not a fair opportunity. He'll need to get some confidence and start to gel with his linemates more in the offensive zone.

He deserves a chance.

"Taking a centering feed from Brayden Schenn, Couturier partially flubbed the shot off the heel of the stick. The puck went in weakly on Crawford."

Couts does have a penchant for flubbing the puck. Really, flubbing is to Couturier what falling down is to Hartnell.

When it comes to the forwards, G and Voracek will get their ice time. However, if the 4th line is effective, Hakstol isn't afraid to give out ice time based upon performance. It can change game to game.

MDZ has really turned his career around in a calendar year. What a difference a year makes.

Has that happened in other arenas? Has there been a development in the case that I don't know about? Because if the investigation is still on going I don't really feel good about it. Seems inappropriate no?

Kinda like this: http://nhl.nbcsports.com/...boo-for-flyers-fans-boos/

I don't like Kane as much as the next guy (because trouble seems to follow him, he scored that crap goal and he represents the JVR disaster to me) but is this in a similar light to the snowball at Santa incident? I can't find anything about it online for what that is worth.

- coffee junkie

Actually, it's happened throughout the preseason and into the early season. The only cheers he's been getting are at home, and some commentators were critical of the Chicago crowd for cheering him.

For what it's worth, announcers said that puck was on edge or bouncing. In fact, they were talking all night about the puck bouncing around.

Really nice to watch a Flyers team actually winning puck battles and they're doing better at clearing the puck.

They just look like a more sound team than they did last year. The defense is still a concern to me as far as personnel but who knows maybe these guys can step up. Need that first line to start playing up to their level soon though, can't rely on the 4th line to be this good the entire year.

- Yosimar89

Except for the first Florida game, their PK is night and day from what it was last year.. Very impressed.

That link you posted is BS.. I was at that game and not a single one of us knew it was a hockey beats cancer thing.

As for the Kane incident. My Dad used to have a saying (and if you have been around forum for a while you have probably seen me post it before): Where there is smoke, there is smoke.

His interpretation is that there doesnt need to be fire for it to be a bad situation. Stay away from the things that can lead to trouble. Smoke will inevitably lead to fire.

Its a bit off color maybe (the chants) but had he not put himself out there they wouldnt have anything to chant about.

I think it is hilarious. His line has been our best offensive line in the early going and people still are champing at the bit to get him out of there. 4 games in, 2 points for him, 3 points for Schenn and people are still critical.

Renewed my dislike of Doc last night. A few times he referenced how the Flyers were known for and/or supposed to take a lot of penalties, as if that was built into the team. Like a lot of people, he's stuck in the 70s regarding the Orange and Black.

Eddie and Doc can fake it a bit, but you can tell it pains Pierre to no end to say anything complimentary about the Flyers.

TOI stats last night where odd:

Our '4th line' got 4-5mins more than our '3rd line' at ES, and 1-3mins more than our '2nd line.'

- VladDrag

The 4th line had a very strong game, they seemed to have the Hawks pinned in their own zone on numerous occasions. My guess, is that Hakstol simply rewarded them for their efforts.

The 4th line also has guys that kill a lot of penalties, so that would increase their ice time as well.

Agreed, I just don't think he has the hands to be more than a very good 4th liner and PK guy.

Really? I just haven't seen it, but you get to see them in practice so hopefully you're right.
