Great win, but the lack of team speed still bothers me. This team seldom scores on the line rush. Most goals are scrambles in front or setup in the O-zone.
Penalties aside, I like having Gudas in the lineup. A little snarl on the back end won't hurt.
Seeing teams like Columbus and the Avs giving up tons of goals might be good. They may come calling for a D-man. Got just the guy for them

That's how most goals are scored in the NHL.

Some observations from last night:

Neuvirth! Wow, just wow! If he keeps playing like this, Mason might have to change his name to Wally Pipp.

After making one brutal unforced giveaway, I thought Brandon Manning bounced back and had a very strong game. Gudas also played very well. Sorry Luke, looks like you'll be sharing popcorn with Vinny for the forseeable future.

The top line still isn't firing on all cyllinders but they seem to be getting closer.

Sam Gagner had a strong game, with and even without the puck. The question is can he do this all season long, and, if he does, do they re-sign him?

B Schenn had another strong game.

The PK was stellar, Bellemare, Laughton and Schultz really stood out.

Speaking of Laughton, I love the energy he brings to the game.

Still need to see more from Simmonds and Couturier, though Coots was a beast on the PK. Hopefully both can find their offensive game soon.

I'm liking Hakstol's style and system more and more each day.

Lastly, congrats again to Kimmo Timonen!!!

The Flyers played a great game which helped them win. They scored more goals than the Blackhawks which usually helps. Neuvirth was lights out. Happy to see him excelling.

Flyers PK was great, and beating Chicago 3-0 is a great win. However the Flyers need to become better with discipline. They're taking too many penalties. Having to play that much on the PK will wear a team down, and it's not a sustainable way to win.

I would really like to see more from the first line. Raffl has been invisible offensively. I think B Schenn should be back on the first PP unit instead of Raffl

Manning and Gudas have both played well and their combined $ isn't even 2 M. AMac and Luke... Ouch!!

Yeah, the top line did have some nice shifts here and there. Raffl seemed to be moving better last night than he was in the first 3 games. I have to wonder if the injury he sustained in preseason has been affecting him a bit. Honestly, I'd rather have a banged up Raffl in the lineup over Vinny.

The late Chicago penalty with a minute to go the fans saw 8 and thought it was Kane and ripped it apart to the loudest longest she said no chant of the night even though part the stadium had exited already. Than they realized it was teuvo 86 not Kane lol

The yotes are now undefeated dismantled Anaheim last night.

Columbus got destroyed by Ottawa. Wonder how long the coach lasts out there many thought they were contenders.

But in a side note. I liked hasktol getting read back into the pk later in the game. He had not been on it much tonight. As good as Laughton read were together coots read went back to instant chemistry. I think read coots Schenn should be seriously considered for Dallas.

Laughton needs an opportunity to do more. He plays just pure good hockey. White has been further down my list lately and vv Bellemare climbing exponentially. If you won't play Laughton rotate him in in place of white.

Reason should be obvious. Chant was "she said no".
- bmeltzer

Has that happened in other arenas? Has there been a development in the case that I don't know about? Because if the investigation is still on going I don't really feel good about it. Seems inappropriate no?

Kinda like this: http://nhl.nbcsports.com/...boo-for-flyers-fans-boos/

I don't like Kane as much as the next guy (because trouble seems to follow him, he scored that crap goal and he represents the JVR disaster to me) but is this in a similar light to the snowball at Santa incident? I can't find anything about it online for what that is worth.

TOI stats last night where odd:

Our '4th line' got 4-5mins more than our '3rd line' at ES, and 1-3mins more than our '2nd line.'

Hat trick for Duclair last night. I'm really glad we only have to play him two times a year going forward.

4 games in..time to kill the coots 2c yet?

And put who at 2C in his place? In case you didn't notice, the 3C got eight minutes of ice time last night so he's not really in line for a promotion.

I was watching the 7th inning of the Blue Jays and fans were throwing cans down on the field and crowd...mothers were trying to protect their young kids but if it happened in Philly it would be all over the world news

You are probably right but local media has been giving it to those fans who did that saying it was classless...which it was

As a fan, I agree with you. But with a new coach, a few games under his belt with his new team, I'm sure they will use this opportunity to fine tune and further build on his system. Really, such a break so early on, might be to the benefit of the team and Hakstol. Certainly helps they're all feeling good right now!

- Mononoke

The break should help Mason and Umberger, too.

Yep. At the end of the day Mason is the main man in net.....but its great to have a backup like Neuvy. He's pretty damn solid himself. All the CBJ fans are blaming their defense for Bobrovskys struggles. While that is a part of it....what has been Masons excuse? Good goalies stop the puck no matter what.

Bill if PEB was moved up in the lineup do you think he would produce offensively?
