I'm not saying I'm for or against the split. I'm just saying why it was done. Also just cuz its not usually done that way doesn't mean its wrong. Way to crush creativity. If you think about it it makes sense to do. By the time Malkin is out there the PK units are tired and aren't gonna be ready to face someone as good as geno. - Zac_O
This split PP units is crushing team productivity. By the time Malkin is out there, another fresh PK unit is out there. |

Pittsburgh will not make the playoffs. Call it the Kessel factor. The Bruins traded away Kessel and proceeded to win the cup. He's a cancer.
Trading for the heartless floater Kessel was the worst decision this team has made in years. - cesareborgia

Defend Kessel now.... Just wait 10 more games and you'll see Kessel for what he really is. A heartless bum. |

@cerebralpalsy;
You haven't watched the 2 games have you? The commentators actually highlighted the defensive efforts of Philbo Baggins - they were great. You may even say he has been the leader on the ice. His goal was due to him being proactive in D! So I'm not sure how you can explain that, going on your statements that are obviously only to agitate the thread.
So rather than make blind unrelated comments about a very good player having not watched any part of the first 2 games, take a step back & go (frank) yourself in the arse! |

"Montreal is undefeated and leads the NHL in Score-Adjusted Fenwick at 63.11% That doesn't mean they are necessarily an elite team this year it just means they have been c rushing their opponents (Toronto, Boston, Ottawa)."
While I agree their opponents thus far haven't been "elite" yet, when you play middle of the pack teams and crush them you aren't just a good team, I think you are considered Elite especially its been all those road games in one week. Anyways, I'm just poking fun at the semantics and I get your point. I just find it funny, that no matter what success the habs have had they aren't considered an Elite team. But people have no problem saying the blues, pens, kings, even Columbus this off season, people are saying they are elite. cool story.
You know for a few years now, I think it's been pretty obvious the habs and pens would make incredible trade partners. I'm not sure Malkin fits anymore with out staal or a more balanced winger core. Mtl also has a back log of dman and probably in the top 5 NHL wide shut down 2 way centers in plekanec.
In no way am I suggesting malkin for plek's, but I wonder why a package hasnt or I wonder if a package could be made that would suit both parties. We need a #1 c you guys need top 2/4 def and an elite pk 2 way center. - munky123
the pieces it would cost would automatically make you hang up the phone. |

And at least Leaf fans support the team win or lose. The penguins would have been in Quebec city by now if the NHL didn't gift you Crosby because of all your fake bandwagon fans |

was hilarious, sportsnet during the habs leafs game last week gave babcock about 15 mins of play time on tv during the game. It must have panned on him about 60 times throughout. He;s the next vicitim. that said I'm happy to see that the leaf culture is changing organisationally, its going to take time for the for the fans to catch on. |

That is whats wrong with the team? I doubt its the only reason. All I'm saying is the logic is actually pretty strong on why to do it.
Also if the 2nd pk unit is against Geno thats an advantage to. |

that's just it...im not sure that's the case. thorton, seguin, and a few other big time players have been traded for decent hockey trades. what would the pens be asking for malkin? |

Like the adjusted lines w/ Perron and Plotnikov switched:
Kunitz-Crosby-Kessel
Perron-Malkin-Hornquvist
Plotnikov-Bonino-Bennett
Sprong-Cullen-Porter
As for the 4th...Well, Sprong is stuck with what is left. This is where losing Dupuis & Fehr hurts the most. A 4th line of Dupuis-Fehr-Sprong would basically be 3B line, but without those to the Pens are left with Cullen and 'LW Occupant' on the 4th line. Not a great place to throw in a skilled rookie and get a good read on what he's got. - s0rcerer1984
Sprong is being moved to LW in my opinion to be prepared for the try out to top six. I'm looking for this in tonight's game. |

At this rate I'll take 40 minutes of hard working hockey vs the 20 we have seen through 2 games. Gotta start somewhere.
I don't see the Penguins fixing the many crap parts to their game on a flight back from PHX and one practice. Hope I'm wrong but this is just another one of many poor matchups for our garbage defense.
Way too slow, Montreal way too fast.
Again, hope I'm wrong...I usually am.

The same Leaf "fans" that toss jerseys onto the ice and crucify any quality player on the team. Your franchise makes the Flyers look relevant and they haven't won a SC in 41 years. |

Uh. Loyal fans. We've been terrible for 10 years and were still the most profitable team in the NHL by a lot. Thankfully now we have the right management and were on the right track. Leafs are on the rise, pens on the decline. |

haha cool story. who wouldn't want to come play here ovechkin, malkin Crosby? all are on record as saying they would if they ever were traded or had the choice. but hey, leaf fans just like most Ontarian's are envious of the habs notoriety and montreals "scene" . you guys wish you could have the habs history.... instead you build yourself up with the history of losing and to be honest the leafs are the least relevant team of the original 6... truly sad for you |
