I'd give them a little more if they were willing to take a bad contract back. He's got a 7mil cap hit for 2 more years after this

Something you, I, and a few other said would happen.

Eichel will start the year off the better player as he played against guys that were more physically mature than what McDavid was playing against. As the year goes on that gap will close but it would not surprise me if Eichel wins the Calder. I do feel McDavid will have the better career when all is said and done but it won't be by much.

Given only one Cup in Pittsburgh, how far is the gap between Crosby and Ovechkin as far as the "better career" is concerned?

The only "bad" contracts they have on the books right now are Moulson and O'Reilly. I doubt Murray gives them up right now.

I'd take Ovi any day

IMO he is the best player right now in the game

When did we become a budget team again? The cap hit is what will affect other roster moves.

For some reason, I only though he had a year left. Also General Fanager has him on IR. Did he get hurt yesterday?

Not much and that is kind of my point.

But a better one might be OV vs Malkin.

I believe that is cap hit to. I thought they gave him a 1 year extension?

I could be wrong?

It's not about a budget.

They have the space the next two years to absorb the hit.

The lower salary just becomes a bonus.

It helps offset the ROR salary from a book keeping standpoint.

14.416667 cap hit 14.5 in salary for the two.

Crosby cannot stay healthy... I take OVI all day everyday. Especially the "new and improved" OVI, last season his leadership on and off the ice was huge and he looked like a completely different person. Actually looked like a C

He's a UFA after this season, and the Sabres are nowhere near the cap ceiling. I don't consider it that bad of a contract. Don't confuse that with me saying it's a good contract, however.
