Simmer played 30 seconds of even strength, just over 1 min total...partly penalties but yeesh. Third line barely played actually. All I know is it doesn't matter who plays that RW, Laughton-Read is shaping up to be a great hard working combo. They're playing terrific in o zone too. I always thought Read could do for Laughts what he did for Coots before last season.

Gagner has looked good. He knows how to play on the puck which certainly helps that line. Playing with the best defensive forward and one of the best off the puck players in Coots may be the way to smooth over Gagner's flaws. Baby Schenn bringing it again, and not just on the goal. Man, Simmer was a drain on that line.

I'm thrilled with how Hakstol is using G on the PK. He's their best shot suppression PKer over years of work. Actually one of the best in the NHL. Ups their ability to score a shortie too. They have a good rotation with 3 PK units w/ Hakstol's trust though, so no one is ever overused.

The system structure is on point tonight, similar to the Lightning game but better. Forwards are backchecking like fiends, rarely getting hemmed in with ample puck support and quick outlets, crashing the net, smart pinches, quick and hard on the forecheck, cycling. Cut out the copious PK time and this game could open up a bit more. Pretty plays are there too.

JJ had like 10 seconds of sexual groaning while watching Luongo's save...or doing something else idk.
