Pssst, it was just for the hits....anybody who made it past novice knows Gardiner is brainless and Franson can't turn worth a (frank).

Sure, which team are you? Send me a proposal? - James_Tanner
Brules Rules, I sent it a bit ago, check it when you can!

I guess we can agree to disagree. To me, it's not the number of shots but rather the quality of the shots. The Kings are known for throwing lots of shots toward the goal from the perimeter. But they've not been that much of a threat offensively. They like to cycle and hold onto the puck but they seldom get true scoring chances out of it. But the cold statistics seem to say they were a threat. We put way too much stock in statistics these days. - Klaatu
that is usually when the coyotes are playing their best. giving up the outside shot to take away the passing lanes. that is really how they made the playoffs the first few years when tip came over. they had no scoring. Bryzgalov would get shelled with 40+ shots a game but they were all from outside. so he never had to be amazing he just had to see the puck.
last night seemed like a ton of shots coming from the outside. id be interested to see a shot chart of the game.
i do agree that the team is not as bad as tanner thinks. i dont expect them to be great but they have a good young base for the future and if the moons align and you get a healthy hanzal a few guys like reider and domi can put up some decent numbers. they could see a decent team. or at least an entertaining team that will score some goals from time to time.

Quick question for you Tanner, just curious for your response because I know you like advanced stats. Would you say that a player with consistently better corsi/fenwick stats is automatically better than one with consistently poorer advanced stats? |

Watched two periods of the game last night.
Agree with the blog, but I do give the Coyotes credit in one way that wasn't necessarily mentioned: They do have decent speed, forechecki pretty well. They aren't going to win a ton this season, but I saw some interesting pieces
Got to get Boedker off the point on the PP, though -- brutal trying to cover |

Defensive minded coaches like Tip and Julien are sparks with minutes for rookies.
They need to prove it in all 3 zones before getting rewarded with ice |

Hey Tanner, wanna trade for Quick in your league? We could make a blockbuster and i'd throw in Hall... - Paul_and_Wings
Saw your proposal, but it was such a busy day I didn't have time to respond, sorry. |

Yes, almost always. In certain cases I think a player like Ovechkin can score so frequently and dominate the PP to such a degree that it doesn't really matter, but in general, if you're allowing more shots against than you're getting you will be a liability. |

The goal that Larkin setup for Abdelkader, Gardiner defended like a wet paper bag. He has not been solid. |
