Wear n tear catches up to a Lucic n a change of scenery was obvious.
PC's cap mess meant a jettison of talent. Sweeney is in a tough spot.
Bergeron/Krejci together cannot stay healthy long enough n Chara is on the decline.
Core is showing signs of age n the Draft was a pathetic indication to be patient n expect more bad before it gets better.

- Nighthawk

Last season was the only time since Krejci broke into the league he's played less than 70 games. Bergeron hasn't missed more than 10 games in a season since 08-09. So I have no idea what you're talking about when you say Krejci and Bergeron can't stay healthy.

What core do you keep talking about? Chara and Seidenberg? No poop. They're old, but I would want nothing to do with paying JB 7 million til he retires. And the Rocket was one of my favorite players to ever done the spoked B but he's no spring chicken either. The rest of the core, Marchand, Krejci, Bergy, Rask, where exactly do you see signs of age? I mean they're not like your Canucks who's entire top 6 last year was in their mid thirties. They are.

The draft? Ok, You lost me, you clearly haven't done your homework. For what it's worth, the Red Line Report said the Bruins had the best draft of any team in the NHL. What exactly should Sweeney do, ignore the scouts that hit it out of the park in 2014 because some dumbass talking heads on TV say otherwise? Who are you even talking about anyway? Senyshyn? The kid leaped up the rankings over the course of the year and there was talk the Senators, Maple Leafs and Red Wings all had their eyes on him as a first round pick. You want to look at some of the other guys in recent years who climbed the rankings the way Senyshyn did- Mark Scheifele is one and Blake Wheeler (another Gretzky pick) is another. This he'd there in the second round narrative is nonsense, its a fiction. DeBrusk was pegged to go late first round in a few lists and Senyshyn was a high second, again according to pre draft lists. Keith Gretzky and his staff wanted these guys, they got their main man in Zboril and chose with the other two picks the guys they wanted- wingers, where the organization has an obvious weakness. Senyshyn is big, he's fast, and he put up pretty good totals for being stuck in the bottom six. Carlo and Lauzon also look like great picks. Lauzon has 8 points in his first four games this season.

More bad? Can't say I've loved everything Sweeney's done but it sure beats having Chia and the clueless moron currently running the Canucks still calling the shots.

I can't see the Bruins being much more than a wildcard. That defense is losing their anchor and has given up some quality talent the past 2 years, and that's not mentioning Seids. The forward ranks are fair at best. Think you guys are on a similar path as MTL. Goalie dependent. That's my objective opinion.

Best of luck.

- TheSabresTaco

You're not the only one on here, but this is a well stated objective opinion from a fan of another team! It's nice to see, and it's much better than the slew of other troll posts on here.

That being said, I think the Sabres have a good chance of being MUCH better than people expect after last season. They probably made the most positive change in the offseason... hope that works out for you guys! I'm pulling for Eichel to beat out McDavid this year. USA! USA!

Well if you ask anyone that frequents this board, you'll find that your Chara argument is falling on deaf ears... I think he hurts the Bruins more than he helps them.
- mixturebill

I just think with the shortage of NHL d-men you need vets. Claude needs to scale his minutes back and I think he can still be situationally effective. That's all, his days as a 30 minute a night defender are obviously over but we'll see how his movement is. The wing span has always been his most effective tool anyway.

Chara is 39. the defense is worse. they lost some of their toughness identity when they traded Lucic. doesnt equate to the playoffs. tell me how they got better from a team that missed the playoffs last season.
- Jurco_28

The funny thing about hockey is that it doesn't really matter what a team looks like on paper.

Kind of how the capitals were a great team last year when everyone in the offseason said they would suck cuz their best addition was an old Brooks Orpik. Or how everyone predicted the flames would suck because they are a young team on paper. Or how the red wings would finally miss the playoffs because of age and a poop defense.

When the Bruins lost Lucic they lost an overpaid and overrated player that didn't really give a poop and are replacing him with a kid that's gonna work his ass off every single shift in all 3 zones.

who are they gonna pass to get in this year? they didn't get better i would argue they got worse on just the hamilton deal! screw lucic he's replaceable. if rask stands on his head maybe wildcard but there's teams in the east that got much better. i would put CBJ ahead of boston for sure and floridas gotten better each of the last few years. boston needs one of they're young guys to be unbelievable to get the offence they need. if dallas can't out score how bad their defense is than boston has no chance. rask for mvp is boston's only hope. not gonna happen

be realistic.............they can not be considered a playoff team right now. I don't think management was throwing everything at this season, (.......lol) its rebuild time. If they over achieve then sure they can make the playoffs......so can the Devils, Knucks and maybe the Sabres (definitely not the Coyotes).....just not likely.

What the hell?

I agree that the Bs are worse than last season, but by your logic, Bs fans should just say screw it and not even bother watching the games?

Every team that starts the season starts at 0 - 0...........and many teams exceed expectations. Not sure the point of trolling and telling everyone that, "hey, the Bs are going to miss the playoffs. So you shouldn't bother caring about the team this year and maybe take up knitting."

Present your points and the evidence to support it and then see how it unfolds.........if it was set in stone then sports would be pointless to watch and care about.

It is far more likely that not only will none of that happen, but that the Jackets and Panthers will be passing them.

1.They missed playoffs last year.

2. They lost key players.

3. Their top players aren't getting any younger.

I'd bet on them missing the playoffs.

Again, I agree with a lot of your points. I think the Bs are in for a long season and I disagree with the managements decisions on most of the major moves since Seguin.

But, we have to see what happens and atleast wait for a couple months........I would thinks.

When you have an elite goalie anything is possible. I don't love the personnel changes they've made, but I think that at the very least you'll see a harder working team than last year. Combine that with a vezina type season from rask and they could get in.

1. By 2 points

2. Lost an aged 4th line, a declining Lucic, a useless Smith and Hamilton. Gained Belesky, Hayes, Connolly, Irwin, C. Miller, Kempainen, Rinaldo and Spooner and Pastarnak have more experience and larger roles.

3, Their entire team got younger (Not to mention healthier as they were without Krejci (potential top scorer), Chara (Their captain), K. Miller (Leading +/- last year), oh and that Hamilton guy that was so good missed the last 10 games of the season which didn't help their push for the playoffs.

4. Boston had 14 overtime losses (I believe like 9 were in the shootout? Too lazy for research at this point) and the 3-3 should really help them in that aspect.

5. Just going to stress this once more, other than Chara and Seidenberg, their whole team is under 30. The age thing just really pissed me off I guess lol.
