There you have it....The Leafs claimed Corrado so he must be better.
- ThePresident

You really don't get it. It really is quite amazing sometimes. Jaime McBain is 27, will not get better, and is unwanted by all 30 NHL teams. The Leafs are not, repeat, are not contenders this year.

I like picking up corrado. I just think there were more useless options to drop than panik. arcobello and parenteau come to mind
- DarcyTucker16

not based on this preseason... and since Babcock wasn't here last year.
for a guy on the bubble like Panik, he had a very pedestrian camp. Says a lot. I liked him, but was surprised how little he showed. I expected him to be in the running for 2nd line. He was brutal.

Not the point, better players were available.

In your opinion, maybe

Did you read this, President? If you want to female dog about them risking Panik on waivers, female dog about it being instead of these clowns, not the 22 year old RHD with upside they picked up for nothing.

No surprise with Robidas on the outs and Corrado being a local boy.

poopty to see Panik hit the waiver wire. I'd rather see him get a shot than a Vancouver castoff, but Corrado is young, just needs to be consistent. That might be something Babcock could help with... We're counting on him to fix JVR and Gardiner... What's another?

Agreed. This is a move to try to fill the coffers with as much young potential as possible. If half of them don't work out, fine. But I'd rather have a potential bottom 4 d-man in the mix if we can fix corrado and have harrington cry because he's being sent down than giving kids a chance on a team that has 0 possibility of any kind of sustained success this season.

he's also 5 yrs older. What would be the point of that? McBain is absolultely as good as he is ever going to get. And that isn't very good.

And if he is better (very much up for debate) it is by a very small margin. Given that Corrado's age suggests that he actually has room to develop, it is an absolute no brainer. I can't believe it's even a discussion honestly.

They aren't trying to find talent for this season. They are grabbing a free prospect who might improve being coached by one of the best coaches in the game. There is very little hope of that with McBain.

- Badge

Yea... McBain adds little to the future... And even if he lights it up this season(something no NHL team thinks is likely) we couldn't trade him. Would have been a stupid pickup.

Panik has a good game once every 10 games.

JVR's are once every 5. It's all about consistency.

I just felt like he's more useful on a 4th line than those 2 but he can also get thrown up on a top 6 spot when someone gets hurt. i dunno.. not a huge difference really i guess i just kinda like panik and i don't like arcobello or parenteau

the fact they play very different positions makes this a bit of a silly argument.
Leafs have about a dozen fringe 3rd liners. Have exactly 1 RHD prospect.

From what I've read about Corrado, the same is true for him.

Maybe it's a depth shuffle... They figure they need more help on D than wings.

Maybe Babcock didn't like Panik's personality... He made a big deal about that... As ineffective as Matthias and Arcobello looked in preseason, they're hard workers.

Maybe it's Shanny worrying that Babcock would work too much magic with Panik and ruin the tank for Matthews?

Much like Buffalo last year and the goalies.

Leafs have sent Scott Harrington to the minors. Now at 23 players.

EDIT: This is likely a one-day move until Panik clears IMO

If that doesn't change, he might be on his way out as well.

I think they want Harrington to get top minutes.
