I'm truly frightened by this latest development.

Any time you tell a professional athlete to start doing something different from the way they are used to doing things, it's a huge risk.

Is it possible that Dion can just start pointing his toes in a new angle of attack, and everything will work out well?

Sure, yeah, in theory, that might be able to happen...

I just a feeling what they tell him will backfire, he has no hockey IQ, he won't and can't change, imo.

Panik (TOR) and Schroeder (MIN) cleared. Cleary (DET) and Nilsson (NYI) on waivers today.

Crap..was hoping someone would take him...

It cost two other 22 year old Leafs pick a spot that played well in camp.

So, yes it did cost something and sent a message that things really have not changed.

maybe your perception of how they played is not shared by babcock

Panik clears

Cleary & Nilsson on waivers.

Maybe Leafs claim him so people on here can stop crying about the 5-1 trade.

edit: nvm, different Nilsson

Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with picking up Corrado.

I just don't think it will make an iota of difference, nor will losing Panik.

- Atomic Wedgie

and i am not saying it will

i do like the idea of letting a young guy challenge the vets that the leafs dont really care about so they can develop the ones they do properly in the A however

Nilsson (NYI), BTW, is on unconditional $125 waivers, which at this time of year (no buyouts) means mutual agreement to terminate contract.

Jonathan Bernier starts tonight against Montreal. Bernier is 1-5-3 lifetime against the Habs with a 3.07 GAA and .900 save percentage.

I'm with LeafMan.

The Grabner trade was a little scary. Its particularly Lou Lam that scares me. He's old and will die soon & he's looking to make a legacy.

the one major thing LM and I disagree on

he thinks the kids should play and develop in the NHL

i do not

just because you are better than a vet doesnt mean you have developed to your potential..

the NHL is not for development

http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...haping-maple-leafs-moves/

“It didn’t work for me,” he says of jumping into the NHL as an 18-year-old. “It nearly ruined me. It took me a year-and-a-half [to get up to speed]. I couldn’t score, I couldn’t keep up. I played on the fourth line, so I just started fighting other fourth liners … it was getting embarrassing. I was reading stories about being a first-round bust.”

This year is gonna be a poop show of philosophical differences. Should be fun.

We'll see who was right in 3-5 years

Finn was the only one i'd of liked to keep. We needed roster space. Meh.

You can't bring them up all at once, it has to be gradual, this should have been the year that one of those 22 year old D got a chance.

I'm not talking about forwards. They have two, actually three D (Granberg injured) that should get a year of playing time, then you can bring in another next year, gradually.

I wonder how this Donskoi kid is going to work out in San Jose. Top line minutes right away apparently.

Dubas has said this repeatedly as well.

When they are ready to be an everyday NHLer, they will come up.

here is the thing

they are still developing gardiner and rielly

the defense is already young.. you cant put too many defensive holes into your D.. work rielly and gardiner first.. then move to the next guy
