Gotta rehab his image, and play, to get a better return. They probably could have moved him in a similar deal to Kessel (less back of course) but then they would be retaining salary on TWO contracts for 7 or 8 yrs, decreasing their ability to make moves in the future.
I don't see Dion part of the solution, but he was less of an impediment to a solution than Kessel was, IMO.

You'll also notice... No kids on this team... Could be to keep the, away from Phaneuf. (I don't believe this to be true... But just sayin...)

best case scenario imo will be 9th or 10th this season based on effort only...which is what babcock can impliment culturally....I dont think anyone who's not trying to sell newspapers or get blog hits realistically thinks the playoffs are attainable.

Of course if the Jays get tossed early that may change.

But the Leafs have absolutely nothing interesting about them this year.

Yeah you look at the lineup and they could be really good, but I don't know about the defense or goaltending? I don't know what to expect.

Not to mention, how well will some pretty big egos work together?
