For a few years at least, Chicago paid for him to have a "handler" to keep him out of trouble. Nobody really knows what happened on the night in question, but even if you take that out of the equation, he's got a decent history of not making the best decisions.

I'm hoping for his and his families sake that he is now matured enough to get past his immaturity phase.
Edit : we have all made some very poor decisions in our lives, especially when alcohol was involved.

I don't see it. sorry.

Think he would have had the same success on the Sabres ?

I think he would succeed no matter what team he's on.

Murray could have had P Kane on draft day for Ennis and the 2nd round pick in the draft ( Eichel) Murray said no.

Not in a million years. I don't know about him personally - he may be innocent of all of the things he has been accused of. I do know that bad things seem to follow him around. I would have thought about it for Reinhart and Ennis but certainly not Eichel.

I'm am not perfect by any means, but I'm lucky enough to say that I've yet to do anything that falls into this category.

Staying in control is certainly key.

Depends on what you mean by "succeed." His point totals and such would probably be close to the same, but I don't think he'd have 3 Stanley Cups.

I am definitely interested to see/hear the communication on the ice. It seems like the team is invigorated and willing to tell each other where to go and how to be successful.

I know a lot of people compare Ennis to Afinogenov around here, but to me, he reminds me more of Briere. I do think he's much better defensively though.
- HonkFortheGoose

I have thought this for a long time. The max comparisons were unfair. Ennis IMO is better and well rounded

I really hope that Lehner and Murray prove me wrong.
I am really worried about our goaltending.
Perhaps if Nathan is fully recovered maybe he surprises?
I just don't think that Johnson is the answer by any means and I hate to knock on the guy but I just don't see him doing anything special here.
Poor goaltending has a way of gnawing at the rest of a teams psyche especially through as long a schedule as the NHL's.
If it is as poor as I am fearing, we may be in for a very long season again.
But I certainly hope not!

True, the roster needs filled with enough good players to round out a full team for that kind of success. If it only took 1 player, the Caps would have won something by now.

I just mean individually I have no doubt that he would have similar/better numbers no matter what team he was on.

Strange as this will sound, with what we have seen in the preseason and his past issues, I actually have confidence in Lehner.

I do not, however, share the same thought on the defense overall as a unit.

That is going to be a roller coaster ride during the entire season.

Ennis is in far more control than Afinogenov ever was.

22 skaters at practice. 12 forwards, 8 defensemen, 2 goalies. Gionta is not here, Reinhart steps up to line with Kane & Eichel.
- yen6d1

IMO Gionta has no business on the second line

unless they are rolling 3 lines to score

Dallas is the prime example of shoddy goaltending impacting a season.

I think the importance, especially with a goaltender that has not been a true number one, will be to communicate and have a simple defensive game. The unfortunate part there is Bogosian is out and one of Donovan and McCabe will not really be on the active roster when he is back. So the comfort level will change again when Bogosian is back.

It helps having linemates that skate faster then a 400 lb bear

max with connolly and kozlov was the best line for a short stretch I have seen here since #16 and #89 were together

I would give that to Briere Connolly and Pominville in 2006 before Briere got his sports hernia and then Connolly messed up his knee shortly after.

Bylsma said he's never seen a goaltender communicate on the ice as much as Lehner does. He's always talking to the guys out there apparently. He's very loud out there.

Grier, Drury, and Hecht made one hell of a shutdown line when they were together.
