It doesn't make sense to me because we have plenty of D when they're not hurt. McCabe and Ruhwedel both played last night and they were two of the injured guys before. So I don't really see a need for another signing right now.

He can replace Bogo when he goes down for the 10th time in the first 9 games.

What does the visor have to do with anything? I'm pretty sure that when he was coming up the ranks, players were already required to wear a visor at the AHL level. Most of those guys got used to wearing it and continued once they came up to the NHL. Now they don't have a choice when they make the jump. Everyone coming from the AHL has to have a visor now.

I think someone brought this up a few days ago and also I see Ryan (Pens blogger) suggested it for them but how about adding Visnovsky to our depleted D corp?
- jochfr

What team doesn't need a 39 year old defensemen who wasn't signed as a UFA and just got cut after a tryout!?!?!?!

What team cut him?

Edit: Chicago... A team full of defensemen that's better than ours.

I heard that they actually really liked what he did in camp but have no money to sign him. I think they were hoping to unload Bickell somewhere and weren't able to. They really liked Paille too.

Is it just me or does Jack Eichel look more like an NHL'er early on than McDavid? Eichel looks absolutely great!

I haven't watched McD at all so I can't comment on him but Eichel looks like the real deal.

You're GODDAMN right!!

lol.

I haven't watched any of McEichel yet. I know that people say there is a big competition and change of style coming from college to pros but he has looked fairly well in preseason. It is preseason so it should be tempered but still... it has looked very promising. I believe he has 5 points in 4 games.

I haven't actually seen any of the games McDavid has been in yet, so I'll reserve my judgement until I can.

However, it's not surprising based off the fact that Eichel played against older/bigger bodies in college than McDavid did at the Jr level. His adjustment period to the NHL will probably take longer.

Eichel may very well have a better season because of that. But overall, McDavid will probably put up better numbers career wise. That's not to say Eichel's will be a lot less, but McDavid does have a bit more skill.

I think Eichel's game is slightly more rounded out though, as he has a bit more of a physical style to his game than McDavid does. It's why I feel Eichel is a better fit for the Sabres.

I just saw that Eberle is down for 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury too. That is McDavid's best winger too. Could be some adjusting.

Preds play the Oil for their home opener on the 10th... I'm getting tickets for that. Military deal gets me $40 tickets for lower bowl.

Eh. I don't think of it like that. I would imagine being on the ice with those bright ass lights can be irritating. Could just be my line of thinking though, as I have always had a light sensitivity, even more now since I had LASIK done.

Problem is if he doesn't get claimed, they're still on the hook for all but $900,000 of his current cap hit.

Eberle just went down this week though. I haven't really seen much out of Edmonton yet though, so I have no idea who's playing with who and all that jazz. I just knew Eberle got hurt because I have him and Hall on my dynasty team.

It seems like Chicago is going to be tearing down their walls here very soon. They have already had to trade or no resign all of their 2nd and 3rd line depth that they had back from Sharp, Versteeg, Bickell, Hayes, Stalberg, etc.

Every team has a window where they can play all-star players at a lower rate until their deals are up and require top notch dollars. They were able to surround them with other great talent but with so much salary going to the big names now.. they have to cut ties.

It is what happened to Pittsburg when Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and MAF required so much more of the pie.

It is true for NHL and NFL especially. You have a window and you have to make the best of it before rebuilding.

The way I understood it was that McDavid was doing 2C duties with 1PP duties.

RNH was 1C for most of the game but would switch shifts here and there.
