yeah, but the leafs benefited from an unusual number of home games in the 1st 2 months of the season.

penguins legitimately suffered through injuries.

Not denying it.

But anything can happen. Being good for a month or two doesn't mean much in the NHL these days.

This is picks for how these teams will do this year, not how they finished last year or the year before. With all things even going into this year including health and additions, the only team that I would have in front of the Pens is the Lightening.

You are remembering a stretch which lasted most of the season where the penguins were missing a lot of their top players. Injuries are part of the game, but if you look at the Pens for the first month or 2 when they were healthy, they were destroying their competition.

They are healthy going into this year and have a deeper roster (Yes, even with the subtractions on defense). If we compare apples to apples, going into this season the penguins are #1 or #2. NOW, lets see if they can stay healthy for longer than a month....... either way, we can all share real banter soon enough when the season starts. Until then, none of us really have a clue whats gonna happen

He did acknowledge that the pens have the scariest offense in the east and will score at will basically - i think what dropped them was their weak D (which nobody can really argue) and that he doesn't think it'll carry through to the playoffs (which is total speculation).

I'd probably add the pens to the top grouping personally.

I honestly don't think their D is that bad. Could use some shoring up, but it's not like they're in a desperate spot to improve it or anything.

Hence why he referenced people from the 90s....

Lost in the clutter was the addition of Phil Jabroni. Potentially the best grab of the season. seriously.

Last season, the Penguins scored the same number of goals as the Habs.

I'll give you a chance to rethink your position and find another angle to attack Montreal's offence.

The penguins have kessel now.. meanwhile, if price goes down, the habs don't have the potent offence that pittsburgh does.

Yeah, Phil Kessel is a guarantee of success for a team.
