I've been saying for years that you can't just throw them to the wolves and expect it to work. You have to have the right mix of youth and vets. And any old vet doesn't necessarily work either. I think Murray's done a spectacular job of bringing in vets, but balancing it out with guys who are still young but have a lot of experience. And what people around here forget, is that you have to give to get. If the player is worth having, it's going to come at a cost that we may not all be a fan of, but it's the way it works.

It's easy for us to look at other trades around the league and feel like the team that traded for the high end guy didn't really give up that much, but that's because we don't have the same type of attachment to those players as we do our own picks/prospects.

I remember a few years ago watching that "Oil Change" show on NHL Network(which I thought was stupid btw) and it was the episode after Nugent-Hopkins 10 game tryout and they announced they were keeping him, it just became obvious they weren't in control of their team and they were just giving in to the new young talent.

You know what though, I'm not even mad at the Oilers. I love Eichel. He's Awesome.

Would I have loved McDavid? Yes. Is he probably a bit more skilled than Eichel? Yes. But I said it all year last year, I think Eichel is the better fit for the style of team Murray was building.

At the end of all of this I really wonder how much the signing of gionta will really matter? I know it won't show in the stats but I got to think his leadership/experience means more than anything with this group.

Agreed. Are there other guys on the team that will be a good fit for Captain some day? yes. But Murray knew that there as an immediate need to get a guy in for a few that could insulate the new core group of leaders and take some of the pressure off. Same with Moulson.

So somehow I finally got sports devil to install in Kodi. I'm not really sure how. I just kept hitting different buttons and now it's there. Hopefully the stream actually works. I guess we'll find out in about 45 minutes.

It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. I think right now he seems like the best choice when Gionta retires as he's the furthest along in his development out of the youngins. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I do know that he has the undivided attention of the locker room now, even though he's not the captain. Rob Ray has said it a bunch of times. The team feeds off of him and looks to him, even though he's been one of the youngest in the room.

Same here, was going to post the same question.

A working link/stream would be awesome if anybody knows of one.

Poor Chad Johnson. Too many AHL'rs are no match for the mostly NHL'rs of the Wild.

With all the injured defensemen and the games back to back today and tomorrow, I'm not surprised that they have mostly AHLers in today.
