Any word on the lineup this eve? You'd think it'd be pretty close to opening night roster being the last pre season game an all...and is it just me or does it seem like there should of been a lot more cuts by now? Perhaps I missed something(s).

All I know is that we are going to use just 1 defensive pairing - Gonchar-Scuderi. REALLY give these boys some increased minutes to get the blood going in those octogenarian legs for the long season ahead.

It's absolutely funny in a way. We draft all these D men ... supposedly build a stable on D (Morrow, Maatta, Pouliot, Harrington, acquire Dumo). Looks like we are set for years ... now we have three left and only one of them is really ready to play in the NHL (Maatta). We had a problem scoring goals last year, so we acquire Kessel and his contract to hopefully correct that. Adding his contract won't help our defensive problem. It's like someone said, when you have Malkin, Sid and Letang's contract, your third and fourth lines will suffer because the cap space is taken by them. Add Kessel, now your defense suffers. At least, out third line looks competent this year and possibly our fourth.

Kessel's 5.8 mill cap hit is not hurting us much at all. A Kunitz, Bonino, Bennet third line is one of the strongest in the league. Better than some teams second line.
