Wasn't all that good defensively either

As was I - he dominated at WJC...

Although I don't necessarily agree that it's the wrong decision to send nurse down, an argument can certainly be made to keep him.

But this whole fear of damaging relationships by doing what mgmt feels is the best course of action is getting silly. We can't cowtow to every demand these guys make. They get paid handsomely to play hockey for us. They are the oilers property.
If in 5 years he's pissed about getting sent down as a 20 year old, he can go fuk himself and walk. If a guy isn't mature enough to understand that it's a business, we don't want him.

Can u imagine the kind of precedent set if we put him in the roster cause we might upset him ? Silly

Assuming Nikitin is 7 and Nilsson beat out scrivens, we get a guy that brings some size and physicality and lose nothing really.
But I dunno about takin on the extra year.
Kinda nice that we're free at the end of this year of almost 7 mil if we hold on to our 2 guys.

It's not bad if we dump two contracts for Bickell. I wish it was Ference though so the net effect on next year is close to zero.

Maybe CHI counters with Bickell and a sweetner for Nikitin?

Very frustrated at this demotion to a player that deserves a roster spot. Not only that, he oozes pride from every pore and I'm sure he is royally p.o.'d at this decision which could, in the end, affect his long term relationship with the Oilers. If he ends up feeling bitter because of this demotion and the fact that two very inferior players got his spot, it could very well come back to haunt the Oilers.

Don't they have at least one buyout? (I think they have two, no?) Give Nikitin or Ference their walking papers and let your future captain have the spot he deserves. If Nurse walks after his first contract, remember this decision, he's a very proud guy.
