(frank) the entry draft. We don't need to expand. Just move Arizona to a different part of the Mohave and the Panthers to QC. I'm actually super pissed about the expansion. - Victoro311
I love QC getting a team. Not sure about LV. I just want metros that will support their teams. |

Vegas should not have a team. QC should have a team for sure. I love those hockey elephants! |

You can protect two ggoalies. And I don't think you can take players from the AHL in the expansion draft. - Zac_O
I don't think there are established standards for what the entry draft would be. NMCs will probably be force protected or player will have to acquiesce. I haven't seen anything else written into the CBA regarding it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |

If a top 5 goaltending prospect in only worth a mid-round draft pick then the Pens should be making those deals every single year. Trade a mid-round pick for a Murray quality prospect. Play him in WBS. Then back-up Fleury then once proven trade him.
Or just never pay for a starting goalie and just run ELC at the position. |

I'm very excited for expansion. Las Vegas will almost immediately be my third favorite team. The league is way more set up to have 32 teams than it is to have 30.
I want the expansion draft to be right now because more than likely scuds would get picked.
The only issue I have is that it doesn't fix the east west imbalance. |

Funny, right after I wrote that Lovejoy is a serviceable defenseman, I was browsing on NHL.com when the Drouin goal replay started. He didn't look serviceable on that play. That was nasty. |

I have looked up the history of expansion and expansion drafts in the NHL. It's something like 2 goalies 9 forwards and 4-5 defenseman. All players on entry level contracts are automatically protected. All players just recently acquired (idk the time frame but I know there is one) are automatically protected. But I'm pretty sure every team must lose 2 players. |

I think Seatle is a better idea than Las Vegas. More traditional hockey market and who the (frank) actually lives in Las Vegas? No one would actually be a Las Vegas Gamgsters fan. The stands would be filled with other team's fans. |

If they get a team in Vegas, that team better have substance abuse and gambling counselors on hand. Because we all know how some hockey players behave in bars and clubs ... and casinos (looking at you, Jaromir!) |

I don't think it matters who's fans are in the seats. Las Vegas makes a lot of sense. They have several thousand season tickets already sold. A nice new arena. And a owner group willing to lose money. They are perfect for the NHL. |

And more importantly, no other professional sports franchise. NHL wants to corner that market.
It will be an interesting place for players to live...a lot of temptations. |

I;ve heard people say that when you live there you never go down to the strip, it's all tourists.
Just what I heard though, it will be different for a bunch of guys being uprooted there from the expansion draft. |

Guys like Stoll Kane and Ryan Malone should never play there. But I can assume most of the athletes in the NHL have enough self control that they could handle it. |

Haha good point. Let's go with both. |

Long term, hockey does not survive in Vegas. Stupid move by the league if it does extend an offer/franchise to Vegas. QC would be the place I put a team. I would consider seattle as well, if the city is interested. |

I had to go to Vegas area (Henderson) quite a few times for work the last couple years and outside of gambling there isn't any temptation that isn't almost as readily available in a major city. Despite its image, it absolutely sucks for women. Most venues are a complete sausagefest which is why they constantly invite girls from California cities for subsidized weekend vacations. |

QC is tough because of the Canadian economy right now. With the exchange rate, their expansion fee is crazy high.
I think Portland, Seattle, and Kansas City make the most sense. |

Seattle doesn't want a NHL team. They were only willing to build an NBA arena that MIGHT be able to do hockey. The NBA doesn't want to move any teams or expand. Las Vegas is the only city with the money to start a team immediately. The company that did the QC bid is looking for a partner owner because they don't have enough money. |

Kansas City had almost 0 interest in an NHL team. Portland like Seattle isn't willing to build an arena for a hockey team. I wanted Wisconsin to put in a bid. Have a real rival for the wild. But the Blackhawks are to close and have the right to ask a new team for up to 200 million for making a franchise so close. |

Ya I think the "temptations" thing is over used as a reason to not have a team there. |

Also makes no sense to me. Thanks to this great thing called air conditioning in arenas. Combine that with the cooling system under the floor and ice can be maintained. Wouldn't the fact it's hot there make it so people wanna go somewhere more chilly? You know, like a hockey arena. |
