Can't fault the Penguins, to do so shows a lack of understanding about the logistics of this game.

Half the presumed opening night roster played last night. Half playing tonight. All will play tomorrow night. Only other option would have been to have an all-AHL roster last night or tomorrow night, and an all NHL roster tonight.

TB didn't choose to honor Johnstown by bringing all their NHL guys, they simply did not have three games in three nights to worry about.

Half played last night? I counted 7, 8 if Sprong makes the team. There's a few more tonight not much. 5 forwards. 3 defensemen

Plotnikov looks better tonight than he has in any other game. Almost had 2. I wish Dumoulin would relax, he's so uptight. They really should be getting killed but it's been a pretty close game.

Well, unlike Pouliot, Dumoulin wasn't a free pass to make the top 6 this year coming into the preseason (we assumed of course, cause we are so smart )... He might be fighting to survive in his mind, and not just to be the one who gets the 2nd pairing spot with Cole.

So far its looking like Clendening > Dumoulin. I think he should get a look on Cole's right.

I was thinking the same thing. Dumo's nerves are so racked right now. I wonder how he'd be playing if he was still waiver exempt. My guess is better.

Mental toughness/Confidence isn't a given for most players. Last year had to help, but only during the year... now he could be in a "this is my chance, can't (frank) it up" mindset. Which is anything but the truth, it would be REALLY hard for him not to make the team, especially with us taking 8 D.

If he can replace him and Pens could flip Fleury for assets I'd be all for it. I do think he looks good.
I don't like Malkin on the PK. Worried about him getting hurt and frankly he doesn't look very good at it.

I like it because it makes Zatkoff either a mentor in WBS or trade bait and also allows much needed time for Jarry to develop in WBS as well.
