i'd easily part with Burrows, Higgins and Vrby by the TDL for picks/prospects. Our D is so weak, and prospects so questionable, it would give me pause.

You have Brisboise Hutton Subban and Pedan that are close , don't tie up cap space and roster spots for aging players

yeah, at this point those 4 can fight it out for 5-6 positions if anything. None of those are screaming to replace top 4 anytime soon.

At least the forward prospects have potential to fill in top 6 next year.

He's a good top 4 dman, why not? Clearly the plan isn't to tank here anyway and Hamhuis is a good veteran character guy. You could try to trade Edler instead and get more than you would for Hamhuis...
- Nucker101

I wouldnt trade edler either way we have no one to replace him. We have plenty of D coming up but none that could play top minutes.

The chances that more than 1 of those guys ends up as a legit top 4 dman aren't super high.

I think Hutton will replace Weber in the top 4 next year

Cmon how many teams would have Weber in their top 4 ? Our D sucks.

Agreed. Bris and Subban didn't even get a game. And Pedan is a 5-6-7 guy at his ceiling.

The guy hasn't even played a full season in the AHL yet. You could be right, but banking on that seems like a bad idea.

Yup. Benning better recoup some picks this year or even some of his supporters and finally the "wait and see" group will being to turn on him.
- Nucker101

He flat out has to. He has been tossing in random picks all be it late with every trade or not been getting as high as he hoped in returns.

If we miss the playoffs he has to have a fire sale on any UFA and any player not in his plans moving forward 3/4 liners can always be had via free agency or replaced with prospects.

Would like to see him move up much the way NYI and SJ did at the last draft. I feel as though we have some depth but would be nice to grab 2 or 3 quality players. If a number 1 center is there im hoping for a D or 2 and a LW with some size, speed and compete.

Preaching to the choir.

But it will still suck if we rely on middle of the pack prospects to improve it in the future by letting top 4 dmen walk.

Weber is by far our worst d man

Worst +/- in the playoffs. Dispute having hamhuis
Zero points dispute getting the majority of the pp time
And is scared to hit

Brisboise is 17/18? He needs 3 years. Subban they knew they were sending down before the preseason started to get a year under his belt. That does not mean he won't be ready next year.

I would easily feel more comfortable with Pedan over Sbisa

I like those 4 but I dont see any becoming top pairing guys. Could be wrong, pedan is perhaps close but for bottom pairing minutes which could be his ceiling, love his game though.

If one of the spots is Hamhuis I am totally fine with that. Im not fine with Weber and Sbisa taking roster spots moving forward unless their games really step up.

Plus you cant have all your D spots filled up with rookies or close to it. Hoping we can grab a top 3 ranked D in this draft.

Bobby Mac's 2016 prospects.

2. Jakob Chychrun
Defence | Sarnia (OHL) | 6'2" | 195 lbs. | Mar. 31, 1998

GP 42. G 16. A 17. PTS 33.

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button’s Analysis:
Outstanding skater who beats pressure defensively, can join the offensive thrust in transition and doesn't break down defensively. Capable of being a complete No. 1 blueliner.

9. Kale Clague
Defence | Brandon (WHL) | 6'0" | 177 lbs. | Jun. 5, 1998

GP 20. G 4. A 9. PTS 13

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button’s Analysis:
Exceptional puck play and with excellent vision, he can find open players and create the opportunities that generate Grade A scoring chances. Excellent poise.

Yet he is top 4 with Hamhuis and that is why I said it is not a stretch for Hutton to be top 4 on this team

I really hope for Kane's sake that it's the accuser who tampered with the rape kit and not the police, because either way if the evidence can't be trusted there's no way to prove whether he's innocent or guilty and this will hang over him forever. No matter what happened, this looks bad on the Buffalo police and reminds me of the kerfuffle that happened with the Winston investigation down in Florida.

Are top 3 are fine, not great but alright everything else is a nightmare. We really have to hope guys pan out and we can draft a couple this year.

Our top 3 got manhandled and schooled by Calgary in the playoffs. I don't understand why no one wants to at least try different personel

Not a bunch. Edler/Tanev is fine, they could easily be a top 4 pairing on an elite team. Hamhuis is solid, but Weber brings that pairing down. I guess it's passable for a 2n pairing, but I'm not comfortable calling it a legit 2nd pairing due to Weber. The 3rd pairing is a disaster...maybe a 2nd pairing in the AHL

We have 1 and a half top 4 pairings

we definitely lack a #1. Hammer/Edler/Tanev are great 2-4
