Exactly, everyone is quick to suggest moving Hamhuis, but just imagine what our D would look like without him.
Best case scenario is he pulls a Vermette, is trade at TDL and returns to the fold.
Beyond that, I would not be disappointed if he re-upped for a another 3-5 years and would not be disappointed if we move him near the end of the season (assuming we have a plan to somehow address on the D corps next off season.

In this economy you can always use a second job.

You want a true #1 guy draft him. I still don't see a problem of saying buy to the old core , finish where we may , and draft a high ranked D man one year and a top centre the following year

I fail to see why they can't do that, and then re-sign Hammer to mentor him/protect him, as opposed to throwing him in the deep end.
