I don't think Hammer is the problem on the backend. And the idea we should move him BECAUSE the other players can't score isn't something that sits well with me.
Hammer was on pace for 32 points last season, which, in my eyes, means he would have had a hand in producing 32 goals for this team had he not been injured. - Gullzy
Hanhuis is decent offensively, he doesn't create much offense on his own but makes a good first pass and has good skating/hockey sense.
BTW, you looking to make any trades? |

He's getting old he will be 37 /38 when it is over. He will need a wheelchair to get around |

I know, that is a bit of a concern for me too but is there a better option? I don't think we have the assets at the moment to trade for someone better, nor do we have someone in the system.
If our other defenders can show that Hamhuis is not needed anymore, I would trade him, but nothing is certain at the moment. |

Would love the team to draft a true #1 Dman.
I fail to see why they can't do that, and then re-sign Hammer to mentor him/protect him, as opposed to throwing him in the deep end.
Seems short-sighted and poor asset management. - dbot
This is what I want but I still approach him at the deadline with the hopes of moving him. |

I guess this is the sticking point, I don't see Hamhuis as MOR. I see him as above average, although i admit he's not a true #1Dman. |

Well yeah, Sbisa and Bartkowski kinda suck. - Nucker101
you do know they just have to help make goals Happen and not just score themselves... give them time to get acquainted and gel then make an honest assessment in 15-20 games |

He's a smart Dman . He was slowing down last year, imagine in four more years.
He has heart, but he won't lead you anymore to the cup finals.
Canuck fans want top end players but won't let go of the past to make room or cap space to bring them in.
I will repeat again we have 15 million spent on 4 Dmen that combined for 7 goals last year. That is dumb on so many levels. |

yes. been wishing they'd trade Edler for some time, especially when his value was high(er)
again, i'm not against moving Hammer for the right price, just against letting him walk. |

Sekera got 5.5
Carle got 5.5
Perry got close to 6
Dion got 7
Hamhuis is day and night better then any of these guys. Even if he regresses. If he wants to sign for 5 or less. That's a great contract |

I wish they did too. Time to let Burrows Hamhuis Higgins Vrbata go this year. There are guys like Subban Hutton Gaunce McCann Virtanen ready to replace these guys next year |

i'd easily part with Burrows, Higgins and Vrby by the TDL for picks/prospects. Our D is so weak, and prospects so questionable, it would give me pause.
