I think a lot of that 'cult hero' thing comes from that playoff series (I believe he was a rookie) where he went up against Malkin and did a pretty good job defending him. The thing is, Couts is just 22...he should continue to get better, stronger, harder to play against. And if he can find his offensive touch, that'll be pretty sweet...for Flyers fans. - wolfhounds
I should make it clear I believe he is good and he has what it takes to be a legit #2 center. Coming in as an 18 year old like he did and playing that style is not easy.

As an 18-year-old, he did a fantastic job against Malkin at 5v5 for 6 playoff games. That was impressive. Against a player like Malkin, that success is not sustainable over a long period of time. Couturier is a fantastic, possibly elite, defensive forward, but I'd take Malkin over him in a heartbeat.
In the last two years in the playoffs, Brassard has 7 playoff goals vs the Penguins.
Malkin and Crosby have combined for 6 playoff goals vs the Rangers.

if you're honestly trying to put Brassard in the same category as Crosby, Malkin, Tavares, etc. then i've got some beachfront property in Iowa to sell you.
the sample size is a tad bit bigger than 12 games. hate to be that guy.

We do have beach front property here though. To some pretty nice lakes I might add. Haha
This thread is going to turn into an argument over Girardi' eliteness, I just know it... - Victoro311
I'll speak to this - Girardi is a quality manager, but with the talent his team has and the team's high payroll, the Yankees should be performing better lately. So I wouldn't call him elite.

This image is both commentary and in keeping with the theme. Today is a good day.

@Zac_O: I agree. I want Sprong playing top line minutes for the rest of preseason.

Derrick Brassard is very underrated, I would rate him at number five; behind Crosby, Malkin, Tavares and Giroux, but ahead of Backstrom, Staal and Johannson.
While I do not partake in fantasy sports (I believe it would just ruin the fun of the regular season games overall for me), I do like seeing other's thoughts and theories on them. Also seeing a number of Pitt players in the early rounds, including Fleury and Letang.
Flower does make sense when I read into how the points work for goalies... wins > all.
Maatta and Franson in the last round I think might be two of the best steals?
edit: Guess I am also inclined to give my opinion of worst picks... since they'd be early ones, I'd say Rask in the 3rd round, and Price in the 1st. Price might not be top 5 or top 10 in wins, he carries the team too much to be that early a pick. Rask, I could see Boston really struggling this year after their summer O' fun.
