He was advising the team last season too. McPhee was Garth's first agent when he was a player. I'm sure he's more than fine with this.

Actually it was reported that it was Snow who wanted him. He was a part time scout for them last year as well

This doesn't even apply to what I said. At no point did Snow declare himself the "king". He is the GM (or king, if that makes you happier) and therefore the person in charge. McPhee was likely hired by Snow to help him and/or just to give his old buddy a do-nothing job.

I don't recall anyone thinking that Doug Weight was going to make the decisions or take Snow's job when that was announced.
