Not many seats at BC you can see the whole ice surface. Some views just obstructed along the boards or a corner, thats why they have the I can't see the ice cam on the scoreboard. That said it is what it is and the team is here and not in Quebec or Kansas City.
I would female dog about the banners and I think they will do something for you. I would be surprised if they didn't.

The arena has a very small feel to it for sure. The concourses are beautiful and there is a ton of room to walk around in them but i agree. It's clearly not made for hockey. The score board being off center didn't bother me but if you weren't in the lower bowl on my side of the ice it would be sitting right in your view of the ice surface. I agree there are definitely quite a few seats that are obstructed no doubt about it some of which you're probably just better off staying home and watching it on TV bcs I'm guessing you'd just see the nets on either side of the rink but nothing in btn. The arena itself is beautiful. the staff was nice but clueless for the most part not so much about the sport(which they were but who cares?)but more on how to do their job. A lot of them were asking me advice on hockey and it's fans which I thought was funny.

I ate at every single place last night(not kidding) and the food was ok nothing really stood out as being real good. A good experience but you're going to pay top dollar for good seats due to there being quite a few that just aren't good. Also that upper bowl looks STEEP! I remember being a little kid going to Islander games at the Coli in the late seventies and eighties being scared poopless of how steep the stairs were that upper bowl at barclays looks like one of those rock walls that people practice climbing up

Also the bathrooms are awesome. Giant bathrooms in the upstairs suites and lounges and the lower level concourse. Going to be tough to do week day games for a lot of people though. Hour and a half each way for me and that was a seamless commute to transfers, etc. Like i said great experience I'll go back, beautiful arena just a little "awkward" as far as watching a hockey game. Nice place for them to play for five years before they come back

That's my arena report since I spent my night eating and drinking and not watching the game

The old Winnipeg arena had the steepest steps I've ever seen in a rink, watched the Manitoba moose there a long time ago (still have a moose jersey) and that was a climb. I've seen a senior take a header on the steps at Rogers arena and if he'd done that in Winnipegs old building that might have been the end of him.

Snow isn't getting fired for having his hands tied in a tough situation. No way that happens.

There is an extremely real chance he walks for zilch on July 1st.

I dont think Garth would let that happen if theres a real impasse in the contract talks. He should be traded if the gap is too big. Yes, it could happen but I highly doubt it will come to that.

GMs have lost their jobs for less, so dont say he wouldnt get fired b/c you dont know. He still thinks Cappy is the best possible option at coach. For that alone I would can his ass.

Yeah don't get me wrong it's a beautiful arena just has some good qualities and some not so good ones. It's not a big secret it wasn't meant to house a hockey team and that's where it's flaws lie but like i said it's pointing out the obvious at this point. It's going to be nice to walk in the concourses and not be jammed, not moving just to get to a bathroom to have to wait twenty minutes to take a leak. Place is immaculate what you'd expect from a new arena.

Totally agree the patron amenities are flawless. The sight lines for hockey is where it's flaws lie as you said. Again I'm happy they're in Long Island and not some where else.

Hey all. I'm a new member, I had finally gotten a phone with a carrier that is listed on the options for signing up here. I have been coming to this site for quite a few years and always going to the message board to see what was happening and be entertained by all the Islander talk going on since I get none of that here where I live in Iowa. I moved to Iowa ten years ago from Farmingville and have rarely missed an Islander game since. Now I'm watching them with NHL Game Center Online here in my college dorm room. I've been through it all here in the last few years with ya guys including Dee Karl (had a huge celebration when Dan got his own blog) and now having to deal with rangerdanger on the daily. I hope you all can embrace me and I'll finally have a group of people to talk Islander Hockey with besides my family. Go Isles!

Welcome aboard and prepare for your virtual hazing. We'll leave the embracing to the Ranger fans.... not that there's anything wrong with that. Btw, are you related to the late Jim Amen?

You have to go through the initiation which is spending 3 hours alone in a dark room with Vukota and a tub of crisco. What happens in the room, stays in the room.
