Well then yes, we are at an impasse. If you want empty production from the softest player in the league with absolutely zero heart accompanying it, then Boyes is your man. - jmatchett383
That's fine -- people can have differing opinions, and we each have reasons for our positions
It doesn't have to be negative, and we each put ours out there

If I were Jagr, 44 years old, single, and rich beyond reason, I would be banging everything that moved.
Unfortunately I'm not.

Yeah, but at least Lappy had one thing that he did extremely well, kill penalties. What does B Schenn do extremely well? He's an average playmaker, a slightly above average goal scorer and his overall hockey sense seems about average as well. He's not a particularly adept skater, nor is he overly physical or anything special on faceoffs.
Guys like Brayden Schenn aren't a dime a dozen, but they aren't that hard to find either. - BiggE
That's where I am. I don't think any of those things mean anybody is saying he's a fourth-liner

Brayden Schenn is very...Vinny Prospal/Dainus Zubrus like to me. He does everything okay, but he doesn't really excel in any one area.
And you know what? I'm perfectly fine with that, because he's 22 years old and making $1.5M and is an upcoming RFA. Were he 27 and making $6M per, then yeah, I'd have an issue with it. Of all of the problems on this team, he's #63. |

It was weird or maybe telling that he got bought out by Florida with only one year at $2.5m left on his contract. They weren't anywhere near the cap ceiling so apparently he was untradeable. |

I don't really think you think he's a 4th liner. But you just seem to bang on the guy constantly when I don't think he's a main reason for the team's lack of success. Is he replaceable? Yes. Does that automatically mean he's bad? Not to me. |

I got pretty destroyed when I said Gagner could be a cheaper option for the same production long term while Schenn has trade value and could be dealt now. can Gagner play a third line rw role for 40 45 points a season ? He would of been third on the Flyers last year in even strength points. |

I think they're somewhat comparable players. However, Gagner is a UFA after this season and Schenn is a RFA. |

So he'd be a Flyers killer if traded? Enough reason right there to never trade him.

I can't remember a player who a city has hated so much who is now in such good graces. I love him. - Giroux_Is_God
LOL I know. I hated him before he came here. Then I realized that everything I thought about him was wrong. Hard Worker, great teammate, not a prima donna in the least.
A mans man.

Gagner has a new born and wants stability. I think he'd take less to remain in a stable city that wants him assuming he can "rebound" from a 41 point campaign ? Say he took Schenn spot on 1st PP and ran third line rw. It's feasible he's a viable 45 point third liner for the next few years. 3 years 8 million deal and b Schenn dealt while he has value ?
Schenn may make less now but that's why he's valuable in the trade market. We could get assets and instantly replace his production. I don't think Gagner is better but he can at least replace production |

I'll just say that I think this season will be very important for both of them. I also don't think Gagner would take a pay cut from his current deal even with stability. |

JVR hasn't been a Flyer killer, but everyone is disappointed with the return we got for him when he was traded after playing three seasons for the Flyers. His breakout, 61 point season didn't come till he was 24. |
