He was tied with Wayne Simmonds for most game winning goals at 6. Although I think much like Streit most his assists were secondary from the top pp.unit.

No, that's just not accurate -- Simmonds has not been great player at 5v5. Some of that can possibly be attributed to some weakness at center, with regards to development and age

But Simmonds is a bonafide difference maker on the PP. He helps drive that unit. He is an impact player on the PP, and that matters because it directly affects wins and losses

Schenn's been a complementary player -- again, not a crime. But he can be replaced. PP1 has been solid for years, with or without him.

And you can't discount Couturier's defense in assessing the differences between he and Schenn, because again, that's skinning the cat differently. Couturier's defense helps prevent goals being scored, and he's impactful by doing so

Schenn doesn't kill penalties. He's not impactful defensively -- again, not a crime. But just not enough for me to believe that he's more than a guy who gets plenty of opportunities to produce and puts up some points in favorable usage situations

Not a crime, but can be replaced

Both of them have been moved around. Both have played with a variety of linemates. Both have gone through long scoring droughts. Both lack speed. Aside from "defensive acumen" of Couturier, those were your complaints about him.

For example: I simply have the OPINION that the Flyers could have brought somebody like Brad Boyes in on a PTO, signed him for, what, $800K? A million?

And his season would look just like Brayden Schenn's would. Again, not a crime. You need goals, you need points

Some guys are just more replaceable than others, is all

My biggest issue with him is that the majority of his points feel like Bobby Abreu home runs. Yeah, he puts up the nice stats, but they all feel empty, the way Abreu used to hit a solo home run in the 8th when they were down 8-1. He's got talent, but he hasn't been able to get any long-term chemistry with anyone aside from the tail end of last year (again, when the games were essentially meaningless). Hopefully he can get that this year.
- jmatchett383

That pretty much sums him up to me, too. I think he can be a great player, but man... things just aren't clicking anywhere for him. I was really hoping to see him on a line with Couts from the outset of camp, but I think that Simmonds will be much more consistent (which will help Couts more in the long run).

We can agree to disagree -- I think Simmonds is far more impactful on a nightly basis, but that's my opinion

Impactful, yes. I was simply saying that the characteristics you criticized him for, to a degree, apply to both of those players.

Schenn has better even strength numbers than Wayne Simmonds. And Wayne Simmonds offensive to defensive zone starts is 5:1 verse schenns 3:1. Coots is 1:2 offensive to defensive. When simmonds went down our PP was still effective utilizing the likes of rj umberger and Ryan white in his role. The PP runs through the 3 corners G jake Streit.

Will simmonds be able to be as impactful at a 1:2 offensive to defensive stsrt ratio like coots and read are given or will he suffer a decline without his 5:1 offensive zone starts.

Exactly where I was going.

Actually just playing devil's advocate. Our team was inconsistent. Top to bottom. Everyone remembers giroux and Jake long even strength drought. Schenn is not the scape goat. With effective line mates and a consistent role I believe he's a high end third liner with fill in top 6.

why do we pick on cats? Why can't it be "there's a lot of ways to flay a fish"?

Update to the story: the selfie was actually sent to her boyfriend who gave her permission and begged her to do it cause he wanted to know what it felt like to touch greatness the next time they were together

Quoting numbers in a vacuum solves absolutely nothing, because that's clearly a small sample size that you quoted about the PP -- Simmonds was Top 5 in the entire NHL in PP goals over EACH of the last TWO SEASONS, and tied for 20th the lockout year before that. That's the definition of effective. You don't get to minimize actual production over multiple seasons over a small sample size of seven games when Simmonds was hurt, especially when Schenn wasn't even on those units

That doesn't work -- you can't slice numbers like that to try to equalize Simmonds and Schenn. They're not the same

"It should be said that while Jagr is reportedly single, Catherine is reportedly not. According to several reports, she’s the girlfriend of Czech junior player Domink Rudl, who was born in 1996, by which time Jagr had already won two Stanley Cups and a scoring title. He also reportedly calls Jagr one of his idols, just in case this entire thing wasn't awkward enough."

Jagr is the man.
