Fantasy question for you guys that are into it.

First year of a keepers league. I'm picking 4th. Assuming that Ovi, Sid and Stamkos go 1,2,3 would it be crazy for me to take McDavid at 4? Safer bets seem like Tavares, Seguin and G but McDavid seems to be as big a a lock as they come.

I should have clarified that, yes, they give you comparable production, not the their playing styles are comparable.

And yes, they're almost exactly 2 years apart, so it's not a huge age difference. All things equal, I'd keep Schenn as he is younger and is still an RFA, but I wouldn't be tied to him either if Gagner out-produces him.

- jmatchett383

Agreed. And I am in no way advocating that Gagner is a better player. I'm simply stating that if the organization has to many square pegs for round holes an option could be to deal Schenn as he gives you the most value and isn't locked in to a top 6 role.

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed 6-5, 196-lb pound defenseman Philippe Myers to an entry-level contract, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Myers, 18 (01/25/97), was attending Flyers Training Camp on an amateur try-out after spending two seasons with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He has appeared in two games so far this season with the Huskies, going scoreless. Last season, he posted eight points (2g-6a) and 55 penalty minutes in 60 regular season and added two assists and 15 penalty minutes in six QMJHL playoff games.

That's who I'm leaning towards to be honest. Definitely tempted by McDavid though.

Jags just makes me laugh. He just doesn't give a flip about this dumb girl taking a photo of him. Makes you wonder about the quality of the chick though. I also hope that he wore some protection...lol. That could be another attempt at blackmail...doh.
Keep on rockin' "Old Man"...hahaha

Is take Seguin or McDavid even if the 3 you mentioned are taken. McDavid is going to have a good year but he won't probably open up in the top 10 in scoring. Seguin is well established will good line mates and years of that ahead of him

Really? I'm all for having as many young defensemen on the team as possible, but this guy sounds like Samuel Morin without everything but size.

It's a Flyers' signing. He's only 18 so he's likely headed back to juniors.

He won't turn 19 till January so he can't play for the Phantoms till 17-18, at which point guys like Morin, Marti, Alt, Ghost and Hagg will likely have moved on.

He's also a righty.

I really like Petterson. I really do. But I have a feeling that he's going to be a healthy scratch/ECHL bound this year. Just too many bodies.

So he's somewhere between lauridsen and pronger. Sounds like a winner. At least we have 4 or 5 years to find out

I'd settle for him being better than Maxim Lamarache who turned out to be not worth an ELC.
