Scottrade Center announced today that the venue will begin implementing the use of metal detection screening at all St. Louis Blues hockey games this season, beginning with the first preseason home game on Tuesday, September 22. The measure is part of the National Hockey League’s implementation of mandatory metal detectors at all NHL arenas in 2015.

Better allow more time for getting into the arena at games.

I will go on the record now and say that the Hawks are the team to beat again this season. Coming out of the west will be difficult as ANA and LA got better, plus NSH could be very, very good. BUT, the Hawks and the Kings are the only two teams in the west that know what it takes to win a game 7 and close out the playoffs, everybody else is just "hoping", and there is a great value in the knowing and a detriment to just hoping.

When we ran into the Islanders in the Cup finals, they KNEW they were going to beat us, everything they did showed us that. We thought we had a chance, top to bottom, but as good as our team was and as strong as our leadership was, we were "guessing" against their "knowing". Coach Q, Toews, Keith, Seabrook, Hammer, Hoss, Kaner and Bickell have all been part of THREE Cup championships, and they know they let one slip through their collective fingers in 2014. The 2011 team was the weakest in Chicago since 2008, and that team almost beat the Cup finalists in game 7 (with a rookie goalie), which would have given a good shot a winning another Cup.

This 2015 Blackhawk team may have a bunch of new faces, but there aren't any Boyntons, Campolis, Hendrys, Johnsons, Skilles, Scotts and Pisanis...so keep that in mind. Coach Q is the best in the game, he knows that it will take time to get everyone on the same page, but he will get there with this roster, and if our Special Teams can improve, then we have a great chance at repeating. We are strong and deep down the middle, we have the capacity to roll 4 lines, Daley will find his game in Chicago next to Hammer, and Crawford and Darling could be the best goaltending duo in the league.

At the halfway point we might be a little over .500, but this team could turn into a monster once the new faces adapt and the Kane situation is resolved. I'm predicting we will repeat!

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but the team will need to gel with the new faces, but as you said, the Hawks will probably hover a little over .500 for a while before they hopefully take off.

Have you heard what the Hawks could be getting if they trade Bickell to Arizona? Pick or a player like Nicklas Grossman or Boyd Gordon (just looking at guys with some salary owed to them to swap)?

Arizona gets Bickell plus Wirtz liquor distribution at a sever discount. Alcohol help having him on the team

Don't discount the Hawks moving Bickell to the Leafs if they sweeten the pot enough for the Leafs to take on Bickell's salary.

Im curious as to what other NHL insiders view the Hawks playoff chances are, how can one doubt them though? 50-50 is basically saying they are rebuilding this year and are taking a year off. Why are odds favorites to repeat?? Cannot envision this core missing the playoffs with a half decent supporting cast, which this team certainly has.

Many outlets have the Hawks repeating . Many of the media in Canada have them as the team to beat, Vegas also has them as the team to beat. Personally I think they will stay competative but with so much player turnover I am not as optimistic for a repeat but none of us will really know what the Hawks are, or may be, until 25 - 30 games in.

I have no idea? Earlier in the summer the Leafs let it be known they had room to take on a bad salary or two.

The Leafs are down to 45 contracts now that they emptied their farm team garbage can on the Islanders for Grabner.

The big team garbage can is completely overflowing with rubble - they would be happy to dump Stephan Robidas on Stanbo for Bickell.

I don't see this as "enthusiasm", I'm just looking at the Hawks roster. There are so many here that are selling Panarin, Anisimov, Dano, Daley, Garbutt and Tikhonov short. All of these guys know how to play the game, they just might not know how to play it Q's way. So it will take a little time to understand their roles. But once they figure the system out (and its not difficult to do) these are talented, experienced players that are going to contribute.

JJ made a list of the players that the Hawks lost, but outside of Saad and Oduya what was difficult to replace? Kudos to Brad Richards for stepping up his game during the playoffs, but he was decent at best and couldn't skate. Steeger has been questionable ever since he came back. Sharp is a professional but 2 of his last 3 seasons were forgettable. If Dano and Panarin can "replace" Saad and Daley fits into Oduya's role, this team can be BETTER than last year's team! Trevor Daley has been a better player in Dallas than Oduya ever was in NJ or WPG. Oduya took some time to find his game here and then took off. But even this past season, it wasn't until JO came back from his injury that he started to play well. We all loved what Oduya brought to the table during the playoffs and the toughness he showed, but why can't Daley do the same??? The guy has been the Stars #1 DMan for quite a while and has NEVER WON A CUP! Don't you think that he is going to make this season his best in the league so he can add a Cup to his list of achievements???

The fact is, if the Hawks can survive the Patrick Kane situation, this team WILL be better than last year's group at some point, with or without Bryan Bickell. That's not blind passion for the Hawks, that's seeing what's right in front of my eyes. This is a VERY, VERY good hockey team...right now.

As for Bickell to ARI (or NJ, BOS and FLA) I haven't heard a thing about players, just that teams are going to want $$$ back as part of any deal. Bickell takes his physical tomorrow.

I love the amnesia we all have about Bickle. Guys played hard tough minutes for the Hawks, was really good in 2013, scored a HUGE goal against BOS, then took a home town discount to stay with the Hawks.
He dealt with injuries, and who knows what else, and everyone can't wait for the door to hit him in the a$$ as he heads out of town.
Were in a tough cap situation and yes we need to shed his salary, but don't act like this guy is a bum and never contributed.

For me personally and maybe others, I haven't followed new guys like AA, Dano, Daley, etc.. that much so I wouldn't say I'm selling them short, but interested/excited to see what they can do before calling them favorites to win again.

I'm hoping players like TT, Dano, & Panarin develop into good players to help subside the doubts. I'm definitely looking forward to see some of the new faces and see what they can do under Q's system.
