Haha. 95% of PTO's are bound for the AHL or get flat out cut. They probably just need a few extra bodies for the first few days at camp, or are looking for guys to fill out the club down in Stockton.

My take on this is that they want to perpetuate the "Always earned, Never given" philosophy. This includes, guys that aren't going to make the main squad. Just because you didn't make the Calgary roster, doesn't guarantee there's a roster spot in Stockton for you. This is a "no passengers" approach to training camp. Regardless where you end up playing, be it NHL, AHL, ECHL, Junior, or elsewhere, you will have earned it. Bringing in Murray doesn't raise t bar too high for guys to attain, but send the message loud and clear that roster spots are up for grabs, so you better step up a earn one or someone else will
