With Zads being trade I see us looking to take another stud defensemen to hopefully play with Zisto for years to come. With the lottery being the first three picks this year there is a solid chance we might slide in there some where (Lord knows where due to catch a break with the lottery) Does any one have any solid opinions on the defensemen who will be eligible for this up coming draft?

Chychrun and Krys are two dmen projected to be in the top 5 players picked. Can you imagine winning the lottery and choosing Austin Matthews though - that would create an abundance of wealth

Yeah, that would be awesome, but really you'd have to get rid of somebody then.

Eichel, Reinhart, Matthews, Girgensons, ROR, Larsson

That's way too much down the middle when we need another top tier D-man and maybe a top tier sniper winger. Larsson would definitely be gone and I could see us moving even more prospects and the 2017 first round pick to get a top pair Defensemen than.

Yep, I would think Reinhart would be the prime trade candidate, though it's not hard for a center to move to wing

Agreed. I'd say must people believe that's how it will look, but the big what if is... We just miss the playoffs and hit the lottery. How do you pass up on Matthews even though we don't need another center. Edmonton just went through that with McDavid. Someone would have to go so that we could get either a top tier D-man or a top line winger, so who would it be? Eichel I'm sure would be safe.

...but for this season, he should be on the top-pairing with Rasmus Ristolainen mentoring him as he goes through his growing pains.

The way that reads is Ristolainen will be the one mentoring Bogosian, and that Bogosian, not Ristolainen will have growing pains

I've been reading Sean Day could make an Eichel-like push to be no. 1 overall. Especially if Matthews falters at all playing in der Schweiz.

Although "just" missing the playoffs and hitting the lottery are extremely long odds at 1-3.5%. And as for 2nd or 3rd it says the odds will increase "on a proportionate basis". I got a C in stats, and the fact that I had a major concussion for most of the semester and it was 10 years ago, so I can't really remember, well anything, but the odds suck, that much I know.

Hated statistics, most worthless class I ever took. Had a 28 year old Asian girl as my professor, adorable, but could not speak a lick of English which made the class about ten times harder.

If they land Matthews they'll move Reinhart for a d-man. Disclaimer: not implying Reinhart sucks, just that Matthews is better.

In hindsight I wonder if it would have been better to have paid UFA money to Sekera and (probably) be done shopping for D. I believe he got a little over 5 a year for 5 or 6 years - we could have easily done that as we won't have cap concerns for a few years (and at that time 5+ a year won't be too bad).

All time, hands down, funniest line ever from a comedy movie.
