Franson is a placeholder. McCabe gets some more seasoning and we keep looking for more top 4 D. I am fine with him coming in and I felt a little better seeing that his analytics were pretty decent. I think guys like Franson, Gorges and Weber look that much worse on bad teams when the ice becomes tilted for long stretches of the game. Hopefully that doesn't happen anymore.

I think the massive infusion of talent is going to ensure that. We're going to have some pretty decent talent on the outside looking in.

I like the move. Only 2 years, doesn't effect us long term will be a lot better on bottom pair than our other options.

It takes minutes away from weber, i like that part. 2 years at that cap hit works for me too. He'll probably play more minutes than he should this year but could come in handy next year when the D is better and he'll see less "tough minutes".

What a nice problem to have. If Franson does indeed sign here today, that means McCabe will be in Rochester this year. I'm not at all surprised by that though because it's been said all along that while they feel he could handle the NHL now, they really wanted to get him another year development in the AHL.

I think they also feel it's best to limit the amount of youth moving into the organization at a time. With the possibility of Eichel, Reinhart and Pysyk all stepping into the NHL roster this year, there's already a lot of learning curve that needs to occur. Best to limit that if possible.

Gotcha. I understand that thought process. I'm just concerned about his defensive play. He's got a great shot, plays with some snarl, I like those things.

I think it's been said that they pretty much are sick of it, but if Kane doesn't want to go anywhere, they can't really do much about it. He has a full NMC. He has to approve any trade. That right there is going to limit them quite a bit. Or at least I think it does.

I just hope for Kane's sake that this is the final kick in the ass he needs to grow up.
