7-11 is totally pessimistic. 4-10 is pretty realistic to me, and I still say a team with Bergy, Krejci, Chara and Rask can hang with ANYONE in a 7 game series.

7-11 is pessimistic.............4-10 isn't?

That's ONE spot difference on the backend!

Tampa
Pitts
NY Rags
NY Isle

MTL, DET, OTT, FLA, COL, BUF and BOS

The first four teams are better than us. But, if we hit our full potential and we do not have any injuries AND those teams in the second group have snags we could potentially finish in FIFTH.

At least you got to see some greats! Sadly, my only real memory of Bourque was watching him win the cup with the Avs.

In 20 years I'll get to tell all the youngins about Bergy. Chara TT and the big bad bruins haha

- Shaundre93

That was the best part! Although all the years and years of disappointment made you connect with Ray. So him holding up that Cup felt like we won it even if it was in a different jersey.

those late 80's, early 90's teams were very good.

just unfortunate to meet the oiler dynasty in the finals and then lemieux's penguins in the conference finals.

I was too young to stay up and watch those games. I remember when I asked my dad in the morning about what happened in the game and he told me they lost.

I cried........

I was only 7 but it was like the end of the world.

My point I guess is that yes, they could miss the playoffs but I also don't think 2nd in the division is out of reach. TB is the only Atlantic team that I don't think they can touch.

Det, Ott, and Fla are not significantly better and I'm curious to see if Pacioretty, Subban and Price can carry the habs again

Still comfortable with this core vs almost any team in a 7 game series

See, you basically restated what I already wrote. Tampa is the only really better team.

MTL rode Price to there success but is fast. Lots of ???
DET is young and fast. And it's best players are old and hurt. Lots of ???
OTT rode a hot goalie. Young and possibly improving. ????
FLA young up and coming team.
BUF "retooled" this team is going to be fun to watch! Could suprise many!

Bergy, Krejci, Rask and a "top notched" Chara would be the best four players from any of those teams.

It's everyone else on the team that needs to really step up. And Chara and Seidenberg MUST stay healthy and rediscover there peaks.

OK, but you're implying it would take the perfect storm just for the B's to finish MAYBE fifth. I think the team should be expected to finish around fifth with an outside chance of earning home ice for round 1 and probably an equal chance of missing the playoffs

That doesn't even bother me, they're his opinions and that's fine. He just sounds like the drunk guy at the bar who sits there sauced up all night saying "we suck! we can't win!" during a 1-1 game. I'm a Detroit Lions fan.....I know all about sucking. I endured a winless season, and all the while said "we suck! we can't win!", and deservedly so. We had the most points by a non-playoff team in NHL history last year, with injuries to 2 of our best players at their respected positions. Our off season wasn't bad (with the exception of the return for turncoat dougie), we signed the most sought after forward available, and have plenty of depth/young guys chomping at the bit to take dougies spot. There was no available d-man who we could have signed that was going to fill dougie shoes, so that's our biggest hole. Our core, along with good complementary players, is enough for me to not call for us sucking, or crying about what number draft picks you need to win the cup. Until the Bruins pull a Detroit Lions season, I don't want to hear about how "we suck"

Pats look pretty good!

Secondary is still suspect. But tonight! Butler and the rest look good.

I don't see how Pitts or the Isles are clearly better than Boston. Pittsburg has garbage D and a rollercoaster of a goalie. All of their money is tied up in 5 players. While I like Halak and the Isles, I don't think one good season means they deserve an exemption from being in the same pool as the rest of those teams.

Tampa
Boston
Montreal

Could easily be the top three Atlantic. NYs and Pitts from Metro. Maybe Ott and Det are wildcards. Or perhaps Pitts falls out of a spot for a surprise team, maybe Washington.

The season is around the corner, less than a month away. I tend to lean to the more worst case side of things.....suprise, supers.

I think this team is missing Boychuck (2-3 D man), Iggy/Horton (30 goal scorer), Hamilton ( 1-2 d man and top 3 team point producer), and another top SIX stud like Seguin was or Pevs in his prime.

Maybe without these pieces someone else will step into them..........
Maybe the rest of the NHL has slid and gotten worse.......

But, these are valid concerns and the same many if you have stated in the past.

Season is around the corner.........Go Bs.

Im not sure if he ever experienced a truly bad B's team cause if he did he would realize the current crew isn't THAT bad

- Shaundre93

still passed all the fitness testing

oh and did you hear that first rounder required shoulder surgery?
Pretty sure you couldn't do a chin-up let alone a pushup with a rotator cuff/labral tear

Guess you should wait and see if there is a reason they all failed...
Also... I have a labral tear in my Right shoulder and can still perform both of those exercises... i'm in pain afterwards... but still can complete CF wods.
