Really. It looked to me that every junior dangle in his repertoire failed. He was miscast last year IMO being expected to provide second line scoring. He needs to simplify his game which he's capable of IMO

I shouldn't say he "blew past", his moves worked quite a few times though. I just like the fact that he's trying to transition his old game to the nhl, whether it works or not, I like the fact that he's trying to form his game in the nhl

I'd be interested to know if the Flyers management are totally happy with their prospects not getting to play against any other teams this year, while most of the league have their prospects involved in tournaments where they will play three or more games.

They must be. They didn't even schedule the one prospect game they usually have with the caps.

I was wondering why they don't do it. It seems to be catching some steam around the league.

The Caps are busy playing in a four team tournament in Tampa. It seems like the only other local team not involved in a prospect tournament are the Islanders.

NHL should really think about doing summer leagues like the NBA does. It's great for networking, facilitating deals and getting opportunities for good interviews.

I don't think the PA would like that. Also, hockey has a much higher risk of injury due to the physical nature of the game, so teams may not want their more prized prospects/players playing in those games.

not to mention good practice for the upcoming season for commentators, etc.

I think NHL network is very underwhelming now.

Would be up to them. Teams will normally only allow their prized players to play 3-5 games in the NBA summer league. It's just pretty fun and has grown immensely in popularity.

If they ran these games during the dog days of summer, I'm pretty sure most of us would go out of our way to watch a lot of the games. Could be a great opportunity to make money for the league.

I think it's underwhelming overall. Needs better programming and better analysis people on NHL Tonight

If you're a fan of the Oilers, Bruins, or Canadiens, I'm sure it's much more exciting.

Hopefully, the MLB borg will take care of that for Bettman.

The MLB Network is actually not bad.

Why watch tv to hear another dudes opinion about a team when you could form your own.

I was wondering the same thing. These rookie games and training camps aren't much compared to legitimate high level competition like the World Juniors but I look at JvR who was a man among boys during his rookie game and training camp. He played every game and was the best player on the ice in each game. I think you need to see first hand where these kids measure up and how committed they are.

Not unless you count the Trial on the Isle.

I hadn't realized how many rookie tournaments were really going on and how many clubs were participating. The Flyers seem like they may be missing out on something. You can watch your kids practice all day but a game tells you so much more.

Hopefully they'll start doing something next year.
