Constant competition is what you'll see from this management group. They will keep moving guys out and bringing new ones in, giving ice to those who bust their rears each night. Similar to CGY model.
- DamnBrasKiss

this here is the precise reason kessel was moved

when he was asked in his first interview with the pittsburgh media about how he felt he would fit in with their puck possession model he essentially said that he would make what decision he felt was best based on what he was seeing on the ice.

that is not a team player

you do not win with guys like that.

23 man roster unless they go with 8 D, then only one extra forward.
- LeafMan

Usually carry 13f 7d 2 goalies.

The cap isn't an issue, so maybe they do carry 14f...... But incredibly hard to find ice for all those guys. I don't see them keeping a young guy they may have hope for as an extra if they can get him ice in the ahl.

Beck, Holland, Panik. It will be a decent third line.

I know there are a hundred reasons why it won't or shouldn't happen.....but it wouldn't surprise me to see Marner make the team and flourish like Sean Monahan did in Calgary, like Duchene did in Colorado. Again, it's just a feeling I have about the player, doesn't mean I'm right, hell we haven't even seen him in training camp. I just don't believe in absolutes, to do so would be to ignore all the weird poop in the sporting world that happens like a 20 year old closing games for the Blue Jays.

Might insert two different forwards every game, whoever doesn't play well gets sat down. Cap is not a problem, it's whoever works harder, it means options.

It won't be very young players sat, it will be the likes of the list I posted.

I think Marner easily is skillful enough to make this team. But no way the leafs burn a year on ELC for him to play on a bad team and lose every night. All the prospects will start in the AHL and you might see some get their toes wet after the deadline. Unless Bernier becomes Carey Price, this is going to be a looooong season for us leaf fans

I tried doing the lines......found it easy, except whenever I tried to include a rookie. It really all comes down to how they use Bozak, Komarov, Mathias and Parenteau. And without training camp, I can't figure it out for myself. I wish Babcock luck in trying to find a lineup that puts the right guys in the top 6, top 9, and fourth line.

I don't think Babcock uses that model, he plays skill throughout the lineup if available to him.

Wether they have skill or not, I think he was referring to who is going to play 1st line and 4th line.

Parenteau is going to crash and burn. He was bought out for a reason. Name 1 player who was bought out, then had better numbers the next year? It doesn't happen.

"The reality is we are going to have to find some people to score..."

This could mean bringing players in by trade or FA ?

Probably why its hard to pinpoint what he's going to do. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

They were all top line players on that roster, they probably all got close to the same ice time.

Essentially yes. I did three lineups very easily, but not knowing if guys are shifting to wing or center complicates many things. outside of JVR being on line one on the LW, it becomes a complete mishmash everytime.
