Sorry, copy and paste error! Seems to me that its about building up asset value and unloading. I see no way any rooks make the team anymore, they'll be trade deadline callups.

If u fill a team with them and have hopes of them playing well enough to get value come deadline chances are u winning more games. would rather have a top 3 pick over a 8-9 pick and couple extra 3-4 round picks..

leafs didn't exactly do great when the unloaded santo and winnik last season, or the seson they moved Dominic moore and ponikarovsky and antropov. as for soshnikov, those are pretty decent numbers for a 21 yo
