Did you see the gofundit campaign? Here's the description:

Recently it has come to light that Mario Lemieux is willing to sell the Pittsburgh Penguins for $750 million dollars. Well, we’re gonna buy em! We are the Orange and Black Pack, a dedicated Flyers hockey blog. We figure since the Flyers already figuratively
own the Penguins, their fans might as well literally own them.

You can find us at http:// www.orangeandblackpack.com or on Facebook and Twitter. In the very likely event we do not raise the money required to purchase the Penguins franchise, 100% of the money we have raised will be donated to Flyers Wives charities. Information on who Flyers Wives charities supports can be found here: http://flyers.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=105354

Please help us purchase the worst franchise in the NHL so we can try to make it better by doing things like:
– Painting the entire inside of the arena Orange and Black
– Putting a giant photo of Claude Giroux on the outside of the building, facing the highway
– Repainting the parking lots stripes orange, with a Flyers logo in each spot
– Using colored thread to impose a beach ball in the net Behind Fleury

– Make a wall of fame in the concourse with photos of our top donators

Thank you for your support!

They got it about right. Since their own team sucks so bad they want to paint their colors on a team that isnt an embarrassment. who can blame them. they should paint giroux's picture facing the jail... plenty off uniformed ass their to grab.

all in all though a spirited charity and I tip my hat to them.

Haha. Actually is pretty funny.

I like to think of all the Crosby hate Philly fans have, but if this ever happened how quick he would be traded to Philly! Lol

Why come up with 750 mil when you can come up with 10 and convince LeCavalier to retire?

He's weak defensively so for his salary, he needs to produce 50+ pts to be cost effective. Flyers should be tanking anyway. They aren't realistically competing this season.

I'd put Fleury comfortably over Mason for now, although Mason's performance on a poop defensive team was admirable.

I love me some Flower.

Just a fun personality who has totally endeared himself to Pittsburgh and its fans, even during the rough patches a few years ago.

And he's totally capable of standing on his head at any given time, something he did quite a bit last year. Despite all the star power, the Penguins wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs without Fleury.

And of course he's lifted something that none of the guys ahead of him on the list have lifted.

The flyers aren't too far from being the team to beat in the division. I'd say two years for our d to improve. The pens on the other hand are in desperation mode to win now. This will sacrifice their youth and bonehead trades destroying the pens. The window has closed. With the world talent they have one cup is an absolute failure. There should be multi cups in Pittsburg not just one.

This is delusionally optimistic.
Pens still have multiple years left to compete. No one knows how prospects will develop either. Even if the dmen come along, that's far from a guarantee on being a dominant team in the division.

EDIT: There's also uncertainty regarding what the divisions/conferences will be following expansion.

Flyers will be AT LEAST #6 in the metro for the next several years. Rangers are always good, Penguins have at least 5 good years of this group left, Capitals are probably in a similar boat to the Penguins, and the Islanders and Blue Jackets are finally starting to take off.

Flyers aren't going anywhere for a while, bud.

we dont have the history a lot of other teams (Montreal/Boston, Montreal/Toronto, Hawks/Wings) have, but we just that bitter hate for one another. Pretty sure the fans' rivalry is more serious than the actual rivalry

I wouldn't, Mason has only had one good year at above a .920 save percentage, last year. On all other years as a starter, he averaged about a .908 overall.

I think it was a bit kind to give him the tie, I would have had him 6th.

- Guile

^ This. I have no issue with the list but MAF 5 and then Mason 6.

Lundquest is the best G in the league, but considering his cap hit there are a lot of other G's I would take over him building a team.
