Odds on Reinhart staying up this season, and if so where in the lineup does he play?

I'm going with 60:40 he's up, and he plays 3C to start but shifts to wing for a good portion of the season.

Shows high promise to be a very solid 2C, especially with Eichel in 1C. But for this season I see him going to wing to reduce D responsibilities while he sharpens His O skills a bit.

Petersen is an incredibly talented goaltender, but he has to make some MAJOR improvements to his style of play in order to play the next level. Basically, when the play enters the zone he backs into his net, rotating his torso square to the puck while his legs lag behind (not square and also causing him to be off balance as his body is twisted). What he should be doing is shuffling about the crease thus allowing his legs and torso to stay square. He is a magnificent skater and reacts to the puck very well, but he has to correct this major error in order to have any chance at being a good goaltender in the pros

I get what you are saying.... But goaltending is all about hand eye and reflexes. Yes positioning matters but top level hand eye and reflexes can over come some of that

I get what you are saying.... But goaltending is all about hand eye and reflexes. Yes positioning matters but top level hand eye and reflexes can over come some of that

My point is that his his hand-eye and reflexes are what has gotten him this far. The fact that the NHL is the top level means that a goalie has to have the total package.

Gone are the days that undersized goalies can outplay others because their reflexes are good. The only guys who could ever do that were Hasek and Brodeur. And to be fair, they are generational type guys. Although Petersen has good reactions, he is most certainly not on that level (nor does he play that style).

Positioning is the difference between a Jonas Gustavsson and a Henrik Lundqvist. Take the modern day "small" goaltender Jonas Enroth. He is not crazy diving around, lunging at pucks (a sure sign of poor positioning), but rather he is constantly in position, drops in a butterfly, and directs the rebound into a corner. That is how 99.9% of modern goaltenders play because it is the easiest and most effective. It doesn't matter if a guy is 5'11" or 6'5", stopping a puck is 10x easier when the goalie is square. Also, all that height doesn't make a difference if the goalie is still giving up half the net because he is out of position
