As long as it isn't Ovi who isn't even the best player on his team. Backstrom>Ovi

He had more points than Crosby missing Okposo for a couple of months last season.

He basically had the scoring title last year as well not sure what he means by monster season? The days of 100 plus points is a thing of the past in today's game.

Yeah not really sure either? Only reason he didn't get the scoring title was because Benn got an meaningless assist off his skate with a few seconds left on the clock. Wondering if these guys actually watch JT play? How much monstrous do you want him to get?

A few months ago there was a graph comparing/pro-rating stat totals from 2000's on. Tavares 84 pt total last season was approx. 115 pts in 2005-06

He may also win the Selke.

It's par for the course with any person in sports media that makes predictions, period.

I always find it funny whenever people get bent over those in the media's opinions, because that's all it is, opinion. Bloggers are wrong often but so are those that actually get paid to give the appearance they know what they are talking about.

That's why all my predictions are made by late night psychic Miss Cleo. We think Connor McDavid will win the Hart.

If Ovechkin does eclipse 53 goals I don't think it will have too much to do with Oshie being on the other wing.

Oshie is good and all but not great. If you look at his last 3 season where he played the majority of the season his point total is pretty consistently right around 56 per year....so good, but nothing to get too excited about

But it will probably have a lot to do with having Backstrom as his center.

Backstrom is one of the most underrated centers in the game. Unreal how this dude flies under the radar.

I'd like to see him be a little more assertive in the offensive zone. I know that's not his game, but take a cue from the way Bura or Kuzzy drives to the net. Backstrom can make all the space for him for days, but he rarely gets clean looks himself. Would be nice for him to find that extra offensive flair. His puck possession and passing is ridiculous.
