I'm just a little bit worried that Rex is going to pull this sort of thing more than every once in a while as a grandstand-y kind of move. I hope it doesn't come back to hurt us, sometime.

big body, late bloomer (see hughes)

as long as Darius is on the roster and not extended, depth moves need to be cinsidered

Darius is 1 step away from being suspended for a season

McKelvin out 6 weeks
- gerbe75pts

This isn't news, everyone knew he was going on the PUP list before the season started, they just tried to prolong it for some Rex reason. Darby better learn real quick on how to be a shut down CB or Andre is gonna give him a nice welcome to the NFL.

Surprised Carpenter hasn't been.
- buffalofan19

Carpenter has hit on 90% of FG's the last 2 years and is rusty due to being injured for 18 days. 2 of his misses hit the upright. Aren't we being a bit trigger happy in cutting him? Not sure I know Rex's agenda in calling him out (maybe to show everybody on the team that nobody is safe).

Now, in saying that, if you could find a kicker as consistent as him (you won't) who also kicks every kickoff through the endzone, and can cut Gay also and save the roster spot, then do it. But when that kicker lines up for a 58 yard field goal with the game on the line, does he make it like Carpenter did last year vs. Detroit?

2 weeks of inconsistent PRESEASON kicking should not make us forget how good he has been, and how good he'll probably be again.

Darius = big contract next year = he's not stupid enough to get suspended this year

He is just in a funk i think he will be fine, and let hm kickoff, with lacking depth at other postitions i cannot believe we still carry 2 kickers. Its laughable honestly.

Dareus is fine, and he is not "one step away" from being suspended an entire season.

Yeah - I agree on both points. Even if 90% of Carpenter's kickoffs are returned, there's a better chance of a fumble than a TD return - I like that risk/reward

Yep - he'd have to get the 4 gamer first. Bruce Smith was one slip away from being suspended for a year for about 15 years. People mature, hopefully Darius has. I'm more worried about his behavior after he gets the big contract - will he still work as hard?

Jack Eichel will move in with fellow Sabres forward Matt Moulson.

Spending that kind of time with the veteran should help Eichel in his rookie campaign. "I know that everyone who knows him well says great things about him," Eichel said. "I haven't heard a bad thing about the guy. The way he offered his house to me shows what kind of person he is. He's a really generous guy, a good guy to be around." The two of them might also end up playing on the same line together for parts of the 2015-16 campaign.

I wonder who Reinhart will live with?
Gionta? Weber?

why wasn't Jordan Samuels-Thomas invited? too old?

do they sabres consider him a legit prospect at all?

- rinaldo

He's no longer with us
We decided not to give him a qualifying offer, so now he's a free agent
Not sure if he's signed with anyone else
He'll prob have to sign an AHL deal with someone, maybe even echl. Last year didn't really go well for him

Is Buffalo one of the five teams that has called about Patty Kane?

I would love the Co-Kane line

- CoHo_to_B-Lo

Yes
89 said they brought up Eichel's name & that ended the convo
Pk88 is pretty sweet, and would fit well with our team
But he does come with baggage & a HUGE cap hit, so I'm not gonna give up the world for him
I do think the Hawks are seriously considering moving him
But if it doesn't happen before camp starts, it probably won't happen

He can bunk up with the torpedo.
