They were badass

What do u think about trading for PK88?

- jdfitz77

Wouldn't trading for Kane put us in cap hell real quick? I can't imagine being able to keep and give deserving players the raises they'll deserve when the ELC are done.

Risto, Girgensons, Pysyk (his money deal when the bridge contract expires) resigning Evander, Eichel, Reinhart, and the list goes on. Our current guys while have us at the cap in 3-4 years, how will we ever tack on Kane's 10.5 million?

Bridge deals for all those guys u speak of will help
None would make pk88 $$$ though
He's one of the best scorers in the league
The thing that might hurt us most, Pat Kane or not, is the O'Reilly deal at a 7.5mil cap hit
It's possible that he's out scored by Evander, Ennis, Reinhart & Eichel... And depending on his role, Girgensons could have similar stats if he's a top6 winger

Regardless...
Although u have to think about the Cap in the future, PK is a special player
I'd at least call to see what they want for him

"MAYBE" we can get them to keep a couple mil of his salary if we are also willing to take Bickell off their hands. They've been trying hard to get rid of him

I actually went through & looked at when guys deals are up & what they might be due...
Assuming modest bridge deals for Girgensons, Larsson, Foligno, & Ristolainen...
All can be negotiated NOW btw
And the Pysyk & Lehner can be signed after this year...

Then we won't have any Cap issues until 18-19
That's when Eichel, Reinhart & E.Kane will all be due for their next deals

As long as the Cap keeps going up a couple Million per season, we should be ok

Where we could get hurt...
Is when Ennis, Girgensons, Pysyk, Bogosian & Ristolainen need new deals.
That could force us into some difficult decisions.
We'd almost certainly lose guys like Larsson & Foligno, but hopefully we have cheaper replacements for them (Bailey & Baptiste)

We are going to have some choices down the road eventually regardless
I'm not gonna let that be a reason we don't trade for a guy that would've been in the MVP talk last year if not for his injury
The only thing that would dissuade me would be what the Hawks would want for Kane

That's a fair offer

I'd love to send any combo of prospects including Fasching, Carrier, Hurley & Karabacek
Heck, I'd give them ALL of them
It's not that I think they're not quality prospects, actually I think they're all decent ones.
But I just don't see where a lot of these guys will ever fit on the Sabres, so we might as well use them as currency.

Of course it would take more than that,
But if we can take out part of your offer to sub in those prospects...
I'd def be MUCH happier

I would agree.

There's no way Kane comes here without one of Reinhart or Eichel going the other way. Perhaps Ristolainen would work, but somehow I doubt it.

Girgensons doesn't have the trade value that some of the locals think he does.

I am a huge PK88 fan... though I don't know of him personally, and I'm giving him the innocent until proven guilty benefit of a doubt, I don't want to trade for him or even consider it till we know whats going on. If he gets charged and this drags on into court or what have you I don't really want to be part of it. I understand the draw and obviously he can play... and he just so happens to play at a position were super thin at. But until we have some idea of whats going to happen...

I love Girgensons, but I've been saying this all summer. Is he a valuable player? Yes. But he's more valuable to us here right now than he would be in a trade. That's not a knock on him, it's just the reality. He's already a contributor, but is he at his ceiling offensively or can he give more? That's probably the big question right now and what will keep his trade value low for the time being.

Sabres called a few weeks ago, Eichel's name came up and you know where that went.

Sabres need to be careful here, we have already given up prospects and picks in other deals regardless how Murray felt about Darcy's picks we have given up a lot. Trying to get Kane here may or may not make it worse.

I was told some think the Hawks are in a " bad spot " so to speak, they are not. Kane's contract is high but I mentioned before, there are GM's in the league that think Kane is a top 1 or 2 player in this league if he would just pull his head out of his ass. Like I said the Sabres did call but they should be on alert as to what they want to part with for Kane.

My hope for Kane is that this whole thing is finally the kick in the ass that he needed. Yes, he's been in trouble before, but in comparison, those indiscretions were nothing. Whether he did anything or not, this is hopefully the wake up call that he desperately needed. It's on him at this point to turn his life around.
