We need to move Morin. Corey Tropp??? No?

Seems to me, just 17 seconds ago, fans were panicked that we would lose Bicks. Who brings what he brings? Just askin.

Move them both.

Unless 88 ends up in jail, Stan is in a position to "do no wrong". He can dangle 88 the way he dangled Sharp. Ask for the world. If he gets it, he's got the excuse for the trade. If he can't get it, keep him. As long as he's repentant and makes the effort he's worth it. I wouldn't be much of a Christian if I didn't offer a repentant soul mercy.

If spending your day with the cup, cancelling celebrations and thinking about living in a 12 x 12 cell. Missing the banner raising and start of the season isn't bottom enough, then he needs to go to jail. For his own mental health. Head to the detox mansion.

If Stanagment plays this right, all will be well in the hawks future. Even after this summer of discontent. GO HOCKS.

Can't stand nordstrom the Swedish mccboyle brother. Doesn't bring anything to the 4th line can't hit can't fight doesn't get his nose dirty or agitate. He's a career minor leaguer.

Lot of "experts" are looking for a break-out year for the Isles in Brooklyn - which, by implication, means a top flight year from the Leddy-Boychuk pairing.

I've been firmly entrenched in the don't trade Kane camp but, I'll be honest, that proposal gives me pause. A versatile scoring rat, a franchise goaltender prospect, and a first round pick that projects to be at the very least a mid-lottery pick? That's pretty close to fair return, even though it would hurt your repeat chances--but it does set you up to expand your championship window by increasing depth and talent long term.
- Sandus

I like the versatile scoring rat, but I think we need a franchise defensive prospect who takes over as Keith and Seabrook age.

Doesn't a flat out denial virtually guarantee they are in? That's how it worked with Dallas after all. (Edited to clarify red font should be liberally applied)

My sources say that there is no way any team is in on Kane, and won't be until they know if he's going to be in jail or not.

That is a great deal for what he brings as a 4th line / depth player and to get him on a 2 way is made of awesome.
- Marlowe

The only way he scores is if a shot deflects off his skate or body. His hands are brutal. And his playing style exemplifies 'running around like a chicken with its head cut off'. Questionable if he's worth the 67 large in the Rock if he takes a spot away from someone with skill to develop.

If Kane wasn't who it appears he is there would be no discussion about dealing him or Toews. They are the two best players on the team and that's the price to pay...ie being top heavy.

If you go back to Malkin/Crosby or Getzlaf/Perry which are the only real comparables
the % isn't too far off as to when they signed new deals....And Kane/Toews were younger than Getzlaf/Perry when they resigned.

Also, if one were to evaluate by accomplishments the duo of Toews/Kane is the best of any and should be paid the most.

No one can predict the cap and I thought it would be higher by now too...But besides the Canadian dollar sinking the consumer spending in the US in the last 7 years hasn't increased much at all.

All the economics aside the very best players who are elite and HOF status are difficult to come by. The key is to have a supply of modestly paid players who perform above their pay grade. That has been why the Hawks stayed so successful and finding players like Shaw/Kruger and Saad were vitally important....Also being able to sign Hammer at a bargain basement price.

If I'm the GM I take the best and pay them and fill in around. When the money runs out it is the 3rd/4th liners and roll players who get a pay cut first.

- Al

I think yours is a totally legitimate perspective. My take is that it is possible that a team puts too high of a percentage of its cap in its top two or three players. Maybe the Blackhawks are there, maybe not. Or maybe we'll never know if the Kane situation goes south.

Think it would be premature to do that anyway. No one will pull the trigger on a trade until the legal situation in BUF is resolved. That and who knows whether they actually trade him in the end.

In? No, and for the reasons you cite. Have teams begun sniffing around? Absolutely, but no deal is happening or even getting seriously discussed until Kane's legal situation is cleared up.
