I wish that whatever is going to happen would happen already. It seems that no matter which way this could go there is an element of impending doom hanging over us and it's tiring and enough is enough already. I want to move on with my life but I'm stuck until this gets resolved - one way or another.

Hey, thanks to you guys making the hockey discussion here the best on the internet, we had a record August for page-views.

I think you should be giving a shout-out to Kaner for that John.

What the hell else would we be talking about:
Bickell is a p.o.s., when is that dead-beat Stan going to get rid of him?
Why did that dope Stan let Oduya walk for a few hundred thou more than Daley's contract?
Crawford backstopped 2 CUPS but makes too much, not as good as: the King, Price, et al
Stan gave away Sharp but forgot to not get back anything instead of cap space

I could go on . . . .

What does a league affiliated medical source mean exactly? What would a medical source have anything to do with this?

the DA doesn't care about the hawks nor NHL financial interests...why would they share any details? especially considering if they have details, they are preparing a case, not sharing
- Confederate

you are correct...and this should be the case...if we ever did we sure don't live in that world anymore....money and power spins the wheel of justice just ask the politicians

One last time about Patrick Kane. No one except for the principals and authorities in BUF know what has happened and what is coming down the pipe, and even they don't know for certain. On Monday another witness came forward with evidence that impugned Kane's character/behaviour and the BUF authorities are obligated to explore where this info leads...taking up more valuable time to the Chicago Blackhawks organization, who haven't done ANYTHING to warrant the situation they find themselves in. From what I was told, the BUF DA office was going to offer Kane yesterday a "plea bargain" to a misdemeanour so that the authorities could rap things up, now they have to wait because of this new information and then re-evaluate.

We are now two weeks from the start of camp and are over the Cap, haven't signed Marcus Kruger and only have 6 DMen (one of them named Runblad) on the roster. Obviously this situation must change. The Hawks have been apparently waiting to make a decision on Patrick Kane until a decision was reached with the BUF authorities, this latest delay has apparently sent them "through the roof" with frustration. Why? Because the Hawks are being FORCED into doing something that they don't want to do without first knowing more information and that's suspending Patrick Kane, keeping him away from team activities and using part of his Cap space to complete the remaining moves they feel are necessary.

Right now, the Hawks aren't able to trade Bryan Bickell without taking back dollars on his contract (and having to include another player/prospect). Everything is silent on Versteeg right now, likely meaning that Bowman wants to keep him, and Marcus Kruger is waiting for Cap space. The Hawks also need one more DMan that they can "count on" as TVR is young and his entire career has been filled with injuries, and no matter how much they play up Erik Guftasson's potential, he's a major crap shoot at best, leaving Runblad, and that says it all.

Stan Bowman NEEDS Cap space to make these things happen. He might be able to trade Bickell without taking $$$ back IF he gave up enough, but MIGHT be enough for the Hawks to re-sign Kruger to a one year extension and cover their current Cap overage. But, they would still be with only 6 DMen and two of them being TVR and Runblad. In other words, the Hawks are being forced into the scenario of having to suspend Patrick Kane and then using part of that Cap space from his salary to complete their remaining moves, and they DON'T want to do this without first having an official understanding of Kane's situation, and this is where the situation rests today.

Now, I understand that there are some people on this sight that don't believe that I am who I purport myself to be, or that I have a genuine NHL "source", and that's fine, take this for what it's worth to you. Not everything that even actual GMs believe will happen come to pass, so there is no way to really know, things just have to "play themselves out". But you should know that I have confirmed my identity with JJ and others from Hockeybuzz.com to avoid any controversy, so hopefully all of this will be laid to rest.

When I joined, I had no idea that being a former player on a Chicago Blackhawk blog site was a "big deal" as I don't see it as such. My opinions are no more important or valuable than any others, although some of you might enjoy the perspective of a former player. There are five other NHL players who are friends of mine that read here, but as of yet, have not posted to my knowledge. We are all doing this because of the talents of JJ, and to stay connected to NHL/Hawk information, some of which I am able to share.

Some of you feel that when I state my source information I am doing it in such a way as to laud it over you or tell you things for certain. I apologize if the way I have presented source information has made you feel uneasy. Since its not me "speaking it" and that I know it to come from DIRECT sources (no in-betweens) I guess I portray the information as exact as I have no reason to doubt it. So again, take it for what it's worth as JJ says, and if we can keep things civil around here, I will stay through the season and share the experience.

And please remember, I am not advocating trading Patrick Kane "right now" or before the Hawk's FO finds out what really transpired. All of this is going to take time and thus so will any decision about Kane. But at some point the Hawks will get a general understanding of what really happened and where they are as a franchise. My comments about Kane have been to suggest that IF the Hawks decide to trade him it will NOT be the end of the world, or the dynasty, that some here are suggesting. Stan Bowman is a capable GM and Patrick Kane has great appeal to most GMs and markets out there...if he's innocent...but IF he's guilty, the Hawks will be left with either suspending him for a LONG TIME, or voiding his deal, and then doing the best they can with the new Cap space...that's it.

lots of kane talk, no facts to back it up.

once again, why would the DA share any info with the Hawks or NHL, let alone "medical personnel" from NHL clubs?????

No argument. Also, I'm not one to assume the DA's office is the only source of information. Or that it is entirely leak free either.

Absolutely, the League employs 'fixers' or people to do just this, murky get it done jobs, we don't ask, you don't tell. Not uncommon in billion dollar industries.

Teams have called. Nothing imminent for obvious reasons. His no-move is almost a non-issue—if they want to move him, and he is eligible to play, they can.

By waiting as long as he did, I don't think teams could afford to take on most or all of Sharp's Cap hit, thus Bowman got "Daley for Oduya" because he didn't believe he could find a way to create the Cap space to resign Oduya. In other words, I don't think Bowman felt he had a choice and thus Daley was a "close" replacement for Oduya, and a little cheaper to boot. And don't forget that in the deal Bowman also got Garbutt with half of his salary taken back. Garbutt, I believe, will be a nice addition to the team.

Everything changed because the Sharp deal went from being a pure salary dump to a hockey trade. At the end of the day Oduya thought best to wait but in my view he cost himself a tidy sum...Especially considering his deal is only for two years.

Bowman took who he needed to from Dallas...They were in control but as you say he did get half of Garbutt's money held back. Bowman has a knack for doing that with 4th line guys...same thing on the Desi trade for Smith I believe.

so what you're saying is that the sister of an NHL medical person, knows a barber who bought a house from the 3rd cousin of the lead investigator on the Kane case?

This isn't a hockey trade...This is a big story in a small town and the longer it goes the more likely info gets out.

I agree that Oduya restricted his options by waiting for Stan to create the cap space, but remember it was confirmed that BUF offered Oduya $5 million per and he turned them down. I loved the addition of Desi, very valuable to have around, and Garbutt's combination of speed, toughness and finishing ability is intriguing...a good acquisition IMO.
