The Sharks are going to have a hard time making the playoffs never mind winning a cup.
- annoyance__101

We were in second place before a collapse at the end of the season, you couldn't be more wrong. You guys will have more of an issue with Miller and making the PO. Good luck...

They are riding the downside of their time...aging core that hasn;t been able to pull it out in the playoffs.

If they can make the playoffs I'd be surprised, and a 7/8 seed if they do. Another 2 years and its time for a full-scale rebuild.

- jackzack87

Ignorance to call this team old, I guess you only know of a couple players on this team, right? We have been rebuilding on the fly, we have injected alot of youth. These types of comments are old and used up, try for some new material next time you troll your way in here.

There is 1 reason you will not, Joe Thornton.
He'll choke, again.

I personally would put point 1 to be - will the coach & his system fit the team?

Point 2 would be - will the Hayne Plane get a contract with the 49ers????

Seriously - point 1 is a must.

Edit: or is point 1 in the next post as to why you can't win Stanley?

- Aussiepenguin

Ohh yeah hes not going back to the Rugby league, hes all ours! Some awesome kick returns where he undressed a few defenders.

You're on glue, for sure, if you think the sharks even have a chance
- Forsberg4Prez

Says the guy whos team destroys first rounders. Good luck even with your savior. How many more years do your chokers need to develop those picks?

Now we're getting somewhere.

And (frank) the 49ers.

I would say they Oilers have more chances than perennial chokers.
- StargateSG1

Hows Detroit? Last time I saw it it was in ruins, at least you will have a new arena to play in.

So Jumbo is too old to play.

He outscored the entire Oiler roster, Tied with Datsyuk and 1 point behind Zetterberg and only 5 points behind Johansen and that other guy. He was only 4th in the league in possession. So according to the troll like thinking hes too old to play...

If he doesn't get injured he is a very very good athlete - incredible on his feet & very solid defender! I wish him well as I played footy with his father. I guess we will be watching the nfl highlights now!

We have been impressed by him. He said he was nervous about getting tackled but has taken some big hits in training camp and did well. I have a feeling he will be the starting kick returner if he keeps outshining Bush. Been a long time since we had someone that could shake the boots off defenders.

The best move the Sharks should make is trade Marleau, Thornton and any other 30+ guy NOT in their plans 5 years from now and stack up on the prospects and picks. betting that at the trade deadline they could fetch quite a haul for some of their vets......then re-load for the future.

Trading Jumbo would be dumb. Hes a top center still and anyone who says different is crazy. He would be the top point getter on alot of teams. Marleau would be someone to move but he wont unless pushed out. We have been loading up our future and our prospect pool isnt thin like it once was.

BTW congrats on the dynasty, I hope the Sharks can get some one day. Sharks for life or should I say chokers?

It's all over the news here - most predicting he will get a contract. As I said you won't be disappointed with his athleticism if he stays healthy. He is also very solid & has been a marked man in league for the whole time he played NRL. Teams have been trying to bash the poop out of him for years so he's been hit plenty of times. Great for him, & it's lifted the 49ers profile over here 1000 x over.

Martin Jones had moderate success with the Kings playing back-up to Quick. He hasn't played a full season in the NHL as a starter.

You are saddled with Thorton and Marleau again. Both are on the downside of their careers, with only Dumbo Joe showing any signs of life, but only in the regular season as always.

Good luck trying to make the dance.

Good one bud you better hope the Sharks don't make the playoffs the way Sharks-Ducks games have been going lately.. Wouldn't want the Sharks to be the reason your over-rated team chokes would ya?

I would agree with you on one point. But, disagree on another.

1. Yes. Jumbo is still a productive player and will be a get sourse of assists and points.

but.....

2. THAT is precisely why I WOULD trade him. He could fetch a great haul back. If you wait too long his value will fall off a cliff. He only has another 2-3 productive years left.

It is better to trade him a year or so early and grab the best you can than to trade hima year or two too late and get nothing or next to nothing for him. There is a lot of emotion tied to players like Jumbo but from a hockey standpoint you MUST turn your tradeable assets into blue chip prospects and picks.....or once Thornton is done in the next couple of years....there will be little in place to surplant him.
