Sucked sober? so you know when he starting overindulging?

Just saying...

I don't get why anyone is upset that the guy is getting a P T (frank)ING O.

He will have to really impress to get a contract. If he does? Great, another player to flip for assets.

But they could trade ALL OF THEM for second rounders.

Do you think Gardiner is a good defenceman?

Just curious..lots of people do.

- Garnie

I don't, he's weak, clueless, disoriented. He can skate forward quickly and stick handle, but he's ultimately LOST on D. Like he's mentally frozen in his own end. He should be moved to wing.

And use those second rounders for compensation to hire more head office people

I'm guessing that MLSEL management has better plans, but Leafs Nation really has to stop with this narrative that the road to Leafy success is:

1. Sign garbage players to 1-year, $1.5 million dollar contracts (when no other teams wanted them)

2. Flip them at the trade deadline for really high picks

3. Draft impact players who will help the team in the next 2 years.

Come on man. It'll happen. They'll be able to trade away a couple guys for some depth picks or prospects. Setoguchi lights it up he could get a 2nd or 3rd rounder. The other guys...meh.

So if he impresses you think they will sign him and just let him ride out his 1 year contract back to UFA? I'm not saying it's a sure thing he can be traded but you'd have to imagine that would be the intent here, no?

Edit: And when I said "assets" earlier I meant anything really. A 4th, 5th, a low end prospect, whatever.

I think that him scoring 10 goals by the trade deadline is wildly optimistic.

If he does that, expect him to fetch about a 4th rounder.

If we get a fourth rounder, there's about a 12% chance that guy plays 100 or more games in the NHL, and even then, statistically speaking he will probably be a borderline NHLer.

http://www2.tsn.ca/column...s/scott_cullen/?ID=267960

So I don't really care whether or not we flip Setoguchi at the trade deadline. It won't make a difference to the long-term success of the Leafs.

That implies that he was impressive enough to get a contract. Therefor, barring a major drop off in what he showed, he should at least be playing pretty well.

I'd rather have a fourth rd pick than.... well nothing.

Oh come on.

Statistically speaking, the Leafs had more chance of winning Lotto 649 than losing game 7 to Boston

Statistically speaking, they were the highest chance to land McDavid until the last ball was pulled.

I'll take a 4th and roll the dice on it being a player down the road, especially when you get it for a guy who cost nothing.

Why is the incessant narrative around here to be automatically negative as (frank)? It's super lame. We need a new schtick

You could literally cut and paste Matthias in there, or Parenteau, or Arcobello, or Spaling

The point is the same
