Yes. NYR needed to clear space on their 2000/2001 roster to add Lindros, so they pawned those 2 scrubs off on us.

There was no cap then. Cap started in 2005.

It's amazing how fast Hlavac fell off. He was a 28 goal, 60+ point player the year before, and then dropped off a cliff.

But sadly, we were forced to take Jan Hlavac and Pavel Brendl as cap dumps.

Edit: But we were able to grab Ruzicka with the pick.

And at least Brendl helped lead to Sami Kapanen

they turned out to be scrubs. jan wasn't a scrub at all at the time and brendl was still a high end prospect.

Jiri Dopita had a better Flyers' career than the 2 of them combined.

Went back to Europe in the SHL/KHL and became a star. Just couldn't hack it in the NHL.

The NHL salary cap was implemented by Punch Imlach in 1974 as a way to keep the Japanese out of the NHL so that they could play for higher, unlimited salaries on their respective JHL teams.

Why do you think no Japanese player ever made it to the NHL until 2007? Because of the implementation of the salary cap in 1974. This is common knowledge.

Per a recent report from TSN, sources claim police found “some pills in a single bottle” during a search, adding that “it was clearly intended for his personal use.”

There's more to this (obviously).

So assuming no injuries/trades or none of the kids squeeze anyone out:

Del Zotto Medvedev
MacDonald Streit
Shultz Schenn/Gudas

Manning

Would still love to move Streit or Schenn, preferably Streit.
