Kessel could have blocked that trade too. He wanted out just as much as management did or it.

Yup great guy to have around.

I forgot about that. No common denominator yet for you here..I'll let you spin your wheels on that for a while.

So again not disputing kessel skill and talent here, tell me why did Toronto trade him, considering what we gave up to get him and what we got for him PLUS retaining salary. A guy who said he loved it here, who make people like bozak and jvr better, and his abundance of work ethic and determination to win, why on earth did we trade him? And dont give me the copt out answer that we didnt need him now, we are in a rebuild, the man himself said he wanted to retire here when we signed him.

I like kessel, but not as a leaf.

based on history it could just be due to the leafs management being really stupid so there's that

So why stop at kessel? Granted you need a dance partner to trade with. I'm sure JVR could have fetched us some decent picks...and yes I know I could still happen. Or why hasn't Phaneuf been traded? Apprently were not opposed to taking lesser talent and retaining salary since hey, we are in a teardown, we announced it didn't you hear? Detroit was apparently willing to take him. Enter Babcock, and he hasn't been moved...and whether it's yet will remain to be seen.

Or better yet, why not build the team around kessel? Why wouldn't Babcock want to get a chance to coach or have on his team a winger of the caliber of Kessel? With the autonomy Babcock would have wanted and dam well know he got before coming here, I'm sure he had an opinion of his own regarding Kessel. with the whole you gotta be a good human being to play here mantra Babcock has been preaching.

Again no hate on for kessel, but because we are in a tear down wasn't the only reason we traded him. They could have waited till the TDL, or at least till Lou showed up so they wouldn't have gotten fleeced like that.
