Thats not it at all!!Quebec City has the fans to support it.You might say they had it once and lost it but so didnt Minny if you want to get technical, didnt they? You might say in Vegas,KC,and even Phoenix youre almost having to force hockey on them where as Quebec city has the fan base that would match any of those places. - nbboy
They still don't have enough corporate support, which was the issue, correct?
Canadian dollar is not doing very well at the moment.
So it will probably put a dent on the Salary Cap limit for a few years.
And Phoenix shouldn't have the team at all. But how do you convince Bettman? |

I dont have a problem with say Seattle getting a team.I really think there would be support. |

I don't think NHL even needs an expansion.
Take the teams from the non-hockey markets and relocate them north
to hockey markets.
30 million per team from expansion fees sound like a lot to fans, but the owners
should think about the health of the league first. Wishful thinking, I know. |

Quebec city deserves a team..End of story..They have the fan base and now have the rink..NHL just doing right and giving it back to them..
Should have never been taken away given the effort they have put into keeping the Yotes in this league with 22 fans they have as the support..
True hockey fans on both sides of the border should support a team playing where there clearly a fan base for a sustainable hockey team..
Ignore that it's the East Canada thing and focus on the fact that the league wont have to constantly bail them out like the Yotes..
If u cant look at Quebec as being a good thing than u are not a true hockey fan.. |

Seems like every team has a supremely talented goal scorer hiding away and unable to make the NHL. You know that type of guy - 5 foot 6, 125 pounds, cant handle the rough stuff and easy to take off the puck. Despite incredible numbers in the minors, will never play at the NHL level because they are too small, or too weak, or too slow, or never discovered that there really are 2 ends to a rink, or.....
You park this guy at the end of the bench and he gets a front row seat for 60 minutes. Once 3 on 3 hits, and there is a ton of space on the ice, you throw him out there and tell him to go like hell and to enjoy 5 minutes of pickup hockey.
These are guys that wll kick butt in overtime - Lostinarink
Good description but technically Desharnais is already in the NHL... |

So am I biased in thinking the Penguins might have the best "two' 3 on 3 lines to roll out?
Assuming Kessel goes with Malkin...
Crosby - Hornqvist - Letang
Malkin - Kessel - Maatta
2nd Pairing questionable on defensive prowess, but can any team match that firepower? - Guile
I'd put Crosby and Malkin with Letang. I think the format's going to lend itself to frontloading talent with scoring frequency. |

Last season 86% of games were decided before the shootout. That number should go up. But you predict:
What's going on here Ek - BestRapperAlive
I'm sure someone said it; I just don't feel like reading all the comments, but he means 60% of games that go to overtime will end before the shootout. Not 60% of all games.

Without reading all comments - I'm predicting ' boldly', that teams like the Pens will get beat early until they adjust the mentality of all out offence.
I believe teams will win more 3x3 by breakouts defending against the more attractive combos. The Pens may throw out Sid, Geno & Tanger & go all out attack while the team they play go oh (frank) look at that let's get strong D out there & end up winning by defending the early onslaught & getting a breakaway & slotting it past Flower 2x1.
I think teams like the Rags, Kings & Flames who will defend first & attack 2nd will win early.
My 2c - Pens best 3x3 will be Maatta, Geno (when he wants to play a 2-way game) & Horny. |

Why wouldn't I want Canada to get another team?
But they had one and blew it.
What changed in 20 years?
Not too mention that it creates too many logistical issues at the moment that
will affect every other team in the league in some way. - StargateSG1
Tell that to Minnesota (the North Stars), or to Colorado (the Rockies), or Winnipeg (the Jets). I'm sure there are other examples that just aren't coming to mind on the spot. Point is, much has changed and the league needs to start putting teams in places where fans already exist rather than trying to force in on Atlanta and Arizona and Florida where attendance has proved they don't give two sh!ts. |
