The whole, him female doging about not playing thing in the playoffs , was off putting to me honestly. He's what, 19 or 20? Still small, still has a lot to improve as far as his defensive game goes, he really wasn't all that dazzling in the reg season despite being the "favorite" for the Calder the offseason before, what position was he in to female dog like that? Again he's only 19 or 20 so he's got time to mature. - benjichronic
Did he actually complain publicly? I don't remember, but I do remember some in the media making a big deal about him not playing. |

And again Drouin was just the first name I thought of.
I wouldn't even mind doing something like Schenn and Hagg for John Gibson if possible. I know what Mason has done but I think Gibson has a higher upside.
My point was more if I am moving Schenn the player coming back has to fit certain things. I wouldn't be interested in too many vet types. Maybe Boadekker but I think he is only 26 |

I think Hagg could be the odd guy out in defensive prospects. We talk about the other 4 but the Friedman kid at bowling green I think will be a real good. Also Wilcox at Cornell could turn into a solid stay at home guy with a good outlet pass type.
But you never know. - J35Bacher

His age is key to me. There are many players who have said stupid things and acted like idiots as teenagers. Some never grow up, some do, but with a guy like Drouin, I'd take the chance. You just don't find talent like his that often.

I really believe two of those guys in the top 6 will be traded for a more seasoned d-man. Just a feeling. |

It's also extremely likely, as much as we all hate to admit, that at least one or two of those guys will never be NHL players, and at least one of the top 4 won't reach his potential.

And I don't think Gostisberhere will be a top 4 guy. I think he'll be more a 4-6 type, play more 3rd pairing type minutes, maybe see action when down a goal, and be a PP specialist.
I really think Friedman will impress when done with college. He has offensive skills but plays with more an edge in his game. Gostisberhere is more dynamic but i think Friedman will be just as good |

I pretty much feel the same way about Ghost. I don't see him getting a lot of ice time in the 3rd period of a game when the Flyers have the lead.

As someone who has spent time with people in their late teens (both in my family and at work), I wouldn't count on anyone in their late teens (or even early 20's) acting like full grown adults.
If Drouin has a maturity problem, it's nothing time and guidance can't fix. |

If Stevie Y was willing to make that deal, I'd drive Schenn to the airport and buy him a first class ticket to Tampa. - BiggE

I'm not as high on Morin as most on the board. I question the potential of his offensive game. He still needs to work on his footwork, recovery, and some other things before he'll make it in the NHL. I think he's a bigger project than many here, and probably 2 years away at best. Considering where they picked him, I would have looked for someone with more offensive or 2-way potential, particularly WHEN they picked him (remember, that was back when we had no real strong D prospects). I've said it before, but he stands a very good chance of being the next great whipping boy on HB.
BUT....
Now that they have Provorov, Sanheim and Ghost, three guys with strong offensive skills, Morin fits into the mix much better. I think he'll end up being a shut-down, physical guy in time, and if he can at least get to that level he really complements them. He'll fit solidly into top 4.
So right now I'd be hesitant to do that deal, even though I've never been a big fan of Morin. - TheGreat28
I agree that Morin is a project who is going to take some considerable time, up to 5 years, before he reaches his full upside if he does. He really doesn't have to have an offensive game. As long as he is a defensive stalwart, with mobility, and makes a good outlet pass, that would make a very good player. With the potential of Provorov and Sanheim to be those 2 way puck moving studs, it makes a nice mix.
Look at Chicago, Hjamalrsson plays in a lot of the defensive situations and against top lines to free up Duncan Keith to play in more offensive situaitons. |

You know what, I don't want a player who is content with sitting out, especially in the biggest games of the year. True, he could've have handled it better, but he is 20 years old. I like that fire in a player. |

I agree with you.....also, I don't expect a 20 year old to comport him or herself like a 40 year old. To expect that is to be routinely disappointed. |

Exactly.. He is todays type of defensive d-man. You cant just get away with being big and strong anymore. You need to have good wheels and a good outlet pass. I think Morin could end up being a very solid compliment to a top pairing (more likely 2nd line pairing). He also does have decent offensive game. Not gonna blow the doors off of the place, but I could see him being a 25-30 point defensive shut down guy. |

I don't even know.
They could draft more d. They could add a younger vet to the core to build with.
My opinion, I don't think Gostisberhere is top 4. I see around 4-6 if that makes sense. PP specialist, when down a goal. But plays more 3rd pairing type minutes and situations on a regualr basis.
Right now i would guess for the future
Provorov - TBD
Morin - Sanheim
Gostisberher - Hagg
Still have Friedman and Wilcox eventually. This will start to take shape probably as the season goes and then next offseason |

This is why I really wanted Bogosian last year. I think he would have been a great compliment to Provorov or Sanheim moving forward. |

The organizational pipeline isn't quite at the point where we can say "no, we're good with talented young players" at any position.

Sean Day
Jacob Chychrun
Chad Krys
And I like the direction the Flyers are going. I do have faith Hakstoll working with the younger players might help in development. I like Hextall's plan.
